Wijnaldum

If Advocaat meant what he said we should break the bank to sign him and make a statement of intent if not its more of the same second or third choices & we allvknow where that has got us.
He is someone we need to be honest, he is a great playmaker and it's what we need but if someone of his quality doesn't come I feel another hard season ahead and possible relegation scrap.

I accept that but if Short has learnt his lessons then this is the type of player we need to sign but I am not convinced the club will remedy their past faliures are you?
It might have nothing to do with short. He doesn't decide who we pursue or sign. We might spent £12m on a player, just a different one. Blaming short is getting boring really. It's july 4th.

Wijnaldum was always more likely to go to Newcastle than us

The telegraph are now reporting the mags are close to signing him but have yet to agree a fee...
How the hell can you be close to signing a player without agreeing a fee and discussing terms with them

Why was he always likely to go to Newcastle? They just escaped relegation and played shite all season I'm not saying we done better but we also have 5 wins over them as well as Dick in charge. It may come down to who is offering the most wages and if it is I would be pushing the boat out to sign him, he is top quality and to lose him to Newcastle is a double blow. Yes it's still early in the transfer window but there isn't going to be many chances to bag a top quality player like that, you have to strike fast otherwise you lose out.

They are more open to signing European players for a start. Cabaye impressed and was sold on. Bought janmaat etc. it's not really our market, which is why I couldn't really see it happening.

Not to mention I wasn't convinced we were absolutely in for him, it's not a signing we pursue imo. I would like us to though

There has been no official Sunderland statement that we are after this fella.

I do not object to us forcing the price the skunks pay for him up. Mr tightfist is not going to give the wally with the brolly to much cash and if he blows it on one player (unproven in the EPL) then he may well have holed himself and the club below the water line.

I don't know if Newcastle are pursuing Wijnaldum but can tell you for sure that Sunderland haven't.

See, we were never in for him so can people please stop saying the Mags 'beat us' to him

You my friend should be hit with a lifetime ban and given thirty lashes near the Stokoe statue for using the term "EPL"

Personal terms are sorted before fees these days tbh. Happened with cech and arsenal.

Surely you are a hypocrite for blasting a paper for propaganda, whilst contributing to one that is even worse?
I think that is harsh. I've done jobs for people who are utter cocks, because it's money and can lead to other opportunities/work.

Hopefully @Captain_Fishpaste doesnt take offence. But it has given him a platform that somebody like him would kill for.

According to Sky there has been no contact from the mags

"There has been lots of paper talk that Newcastle are close to signing midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum from PSV, but Sky sources understand the Dutch side have had no contact from the Magpies.

Wijnaldum is due to return to pre-season training tomorrow, and missed today's 6-0 friendly win over Eindstand SV Dosko because he was given extra time off, along with other international players who were involved in the Euro qualifiers last month.

PSV have also had no expressions of interest from Roma, who have also been linked with the 24-year-old, but they have had one official bid from Zenit.

Wijnaldum is valued at £15million, has a gentleman's agreement that PSV will let him leave this summer, and his agent is working on getting him a move to England."

Exact same storyline is playing out, as to the one when it was about us

No shit, Sherlock. But I bet I've met more approval and I'm not even widely liked. You basically can't write for shit and you're passing yourself off as a decent journalist. You're a rent-a-quote twitter twat that stumbled on some followers and now you think you're jesus.

Kin'ell :lol::lol:.

i am not blaming short but do you honestly think he will have said to Advocaat not matter what you have to pay I will sign the cheque. I why are rhe Mags rhe favourites to sign him above us ?
