Why won’t anyone shoot?

I got to say that our goals for column does worry me a little. Only wolves and Forest have scored less than us.

It’s very frustrating when you see a player just outside the box unchallenged looking like he’s going to rip it one then lays it off to a teammate. Considering how weak our goal scoring is, I would definitely be saying to the players, if you get a chance hit the fkr! Like they say, if you don’t buy the ticket…. 🤷‍♂️

But contradictory to his thread title.
I think he almost answered it. Essentially players won't shoot from distance as they can't hit the target

We know how it goes. As we've seen it plenty.

Player gets ball outside the box.

"Shooooooooooooooot!"

He shoots.

It flies into the stands.

"Boooooo...... Fks that!?..... That's shite!..... He had options ffs"

Nobody in the box to cross it too, nobody will shoot, we rarely trouble a goalkeeper for them to make a mistake or un nerve them.
Trai Hume is the only one that will dare, and he’s not great at it. None of our forward style players dare try

Xhaka decided not to shoot from 20 yards in the middle of the goal and passed it to Talbi, who then lost it. Just take the shot on as its not as if another good chance will be created in 5 minutes time.

Very frustrating when I side who don't create many opportunities don't take a shot on from that position. Its the same with crossing we seem to go in triangles and very often no cross comes on or after a number of passes we go backwards then someone in a worse position floats one in.

They finally did in the second half. The outcome wasn't good.
The irony of Brobbey finally having a shot yesterday when he could have passed to Sadiki and Diarra in better positions. If they had been 30 yards out by the touchline he would have probably passed to them.

Alderete, Brobbey, Geertruida and Hume all had shots from range and none troubled the keeper.

There were a couple of opportunities that weren’t taken. Talbi could have had a dig when Xhaka laid it off.

I don’t think it’s so much shooting that’s an issue rather than a general attitude of being positive taking responsibility for making things happen. Wingers cutting onside rather than beating a man on the outside or just using their wrong foot to put a cross in. Lack of bodies getting into the box (probably linked to wingers constantly cutting inside!) Thinking safe rather than getting on the front foot. Playing sideways instead of an early forward pass.

It’s just predictable, boring and easy to play against.

There was one instance yesterday that summed it up. Talbi got the ball out wide and we’d managed to get him one on one with the full back with plenty of grass to attack. He’s rapid and had the opportunity to simply push the ball out of his feet, progress a few yards and stick a cross in early. Instead he put his foot on the ball, tried to come inside, and we ended up losing it. I do t know if that’s an individual confidence thing or if it’s coached instruction but it doesn’t help us.
