Why has Foden gone from hero to zero?

I thought Man City's celebrations after they won the champions league seemed a bit mental. They seemed to be on a week long bender, possibly longer, jetting from one place to another. Sure enough they've been cack this season. Fair enough celebrate, but a few of them seemed to go on like morons.
There’s a few in the side that still look pissed

He was never as good as the hype suggested. He is playing for a manager who puts his own self-importance ahead of anything, and certainly doesn't develop players (as Grealish, Palmer, Phillips, or Delap would testify). And - thankfully - football is beginning to leave that unwatchable playing style behind, so he plays for a team that is not only beatable, but now lagging a long, long way behind the best teams in Europe.

He's a luxury. Not good tall enough, fast enough or powerful enough to be a forward and not creative enough to be a winger. He's good playing somewhere in the middle of those positions. That's fine if you dominate play, but City don't anymore and once they play with a proper striker in Haaland, they don't have spare places to give to someone who doesn't quite fit.
I felt he wasted on the wing. He should be focal point as a CM. i think if Bernando (cant stand him to be honest, hate this fella) leave and Foden take his place.
Riggs is far better player than foden when he was 17.

If I was a 24 year old millionaire I could think of nowt worse than having 3 kids. Would you not care for your kids if you were rich?
Of course I'd care for my kids, I brought 3 up myself, first one at 24.

However, you can also afford the very best child care when you're at work so you and your wife aren't pushed for time and space. It's literally a different world to normal parents with the stresses of money and juggling everything.

Sorry but that's rubbish. Foden was probably the best in the world at 17. As I mentioned previously, he was was the player of the tournament when England under 17's won their world cup. Rigg was perhaps the best in England at 17.

What the hell?

Rigg is just coming up to his 18th birthday, in a couple of weeks.

At that age, Phil Foden was playing in the Champions League and Premier League, had a League Cup winners medal, and was the youngest player ever to win a Premier League winners medal.

Chris Rigg is not a 'far better player' than Foden was at that stage.

Well when I was a 24 year old the thought of bringing up 3 (sounds like soon to be 4) kids sounds like quite the handful and not something I would want to handle.

Obviously if you are going to palm off the responsibility to others then that'll make things easier but I'd have thought being around them and taking care of them would be most people's first thought.

Coming home from work and there's 3 children waiting for you at 24 year old is the last thing I'd have wanted. Don't know many who would.

Chris Rigg would laugh at this post.

I paid for child care for well over 10 years as I worked full time and my then wife worked part time. That's not 'palming the kids off' it's doing something practical so you can both work to actually afford kids!

As a footballer you could have a live in nanny if you so choose, it's night and day to normal parenting issues.

So as a 24 year old you'd have a actively wanted to have 3 or 4 kids if you could have afforded to? I wouldn't have. It sounds a fcking nightmare to me and not normal. We are all different tho. 🤷

I wouldn't have chosen to no but if that's how your life pans out you make arrangements to make your life as manageable as possible. If you're a multi millionaire your options are massive compared to the average couple in the street.

Well aye. All that is fairly obvious but the point remains. It can't be easy or ideal to be dealing with all that as a young lad and it wouldn't be a surprise if it had an impact on your day job.

I doubt he could play any other way than Pep's way, he's a product of Pep's system as much as Busquets & Iniesta
City miss Rodri more than anyone else IMO, he made them tick.
Foden is a quality footballer, he will come back and be as good, no doubt about it, the whole team has been way below their previous level but given their success it was probably inevitable there would be a drop off afterwards.

I agree , Pep has a way of playing and will not vary his style. He did the same with Raheem Stirling , he coached the attacking runs out of him . It bores the arse off me the way they constantly get the ball wide and the winger turns back to play the ball to the player behind him.
