Why do the Media

They sold out a 3500 allocation on a Sunday for a match that was live on tv on a Sunday 350 miles away.

Tbf it's probably worth a mention.

On the flip side of the coin though I agree with the OP and we've had lots of good travelling supports over the years that have gone unacknowledged. Media and Sky in particular have always piped them off though.

We had 2000 down there for a midweek pissy league cup game recently didn't we and we also have good away support on a regular basis but struggling at the minute cos everyone is sick as fuck.

always mention and praise the 'magnificent ' travelling Newcastle away support?
Cant recall them ever bigging up our travelling fans?

When the Mags attacked the police, ambushed the Sunderland supporters, started fires, threw bottles and punched a horse .....

........ it was reported as clashes between Sunderland supporters and the home fans.

Toon Army yay

Newcastle are seen as being good for the Sky Brand. I actually had this conversation with one of their marketing execs at a conference a few years back.

No surprise they get a higher proportion of live games. Their viewing figures are always high they seem to attract the general public to the sofa. In the end it is about cold hard advertising.

Pains me to say this but the live Sky games involving the “lesser lights” of the Premiership have been much better than the “big hyped up games”

We’ve had plenty over the years but sadly we travel in much smaller numbers these days. We have quality rather than quantity.

Even though, there must be a mag high up with Sky. It beggars belief the amount of "Super Sunday" games they've had this season

Sky reached saturation point with "super Sunday" the day Blackburn vs Wigan was served up.

At that point they proved the futility of existence.
