Never once I have celebrated us getting to the pizza cup final, or winning it, I said at the time it was embarrassing and got pelters as usual.
It's a competition that's beneath us,since we dropped into league 1 I've said we should sack every cup competition off and concentrate on the league ,no excuses.
It infuriates me that someone here are thinking about winning the league cup, I know most of it is in jest , but even fans talking about getting into Europe just by making the final, theydonteven realise you don't get in europe that way.
People need to wake up, the only way we get out of this league is by fully concentrating on the league no distractions, no Wembley cup final in an awful competition. The first thing I would do is sack LJ and appoint Neil Warnock even if he just has a contract till the end of the season, sign 4 experienced players in jan, the first being a decent experienced keeper.
"(The Pizza Cup) is a competition that's beneath us."
First of all, we are a League One team and the Pizza Cup is an indication of our level. However, we should be grateful for it and the other cups as it gives our "alternative" players the chance to show what they're about and start pushing the "first-teamers" to up their standards. A case in point after Tuesday is Broadhead (immediately I would think) and Younger (soon I hope) claiming first team places and improving our performances in the league, which, you rightly say, is our priority.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we played a full strength side in the Pizza Cup Final.

As a club, it's a competition we should be embarrassed to have to enter and not something we should be bragging about

safc are a league one club with a league one manager. [remier league managers work for premier league clubs..they wont work in league one and thats because they are premier league managers.

id say this owner has failed if its not within five years

due to our stadium size and fan base we are very much a Premier League club being run in Division One. Certainly we could not attract a Premier League Manager or players.
The thing about LJ is he has managed in a level above us where he held his own for 4 years, but as I keep saying these slumps he has year after year will always cost him promotion at whichever League or team he is at. You can’t go 9 games without a win and expect to get promotion.

Season after season it’s the same excuses we are a premier league club with a third rate coach
Get a grip man, we are not a Premier League club, League one with a League one manager, but if you can name a top prem manager that will come down to our level then great, but we are where we are until we get back up

I'd love some mediocrity. Give me a long, ardous spell of bang average, run of the mill tedium over the intolerable dross that's been served up over the past few weeks.

Interesting that you use the word mediocrity.
This is our fourth consecutive season in League 1.
That isn't mediocrity. It's far worse.

In the grand scheme of things, I really don't care what division we are in so long as we are playing well... I've enjoyed some games more in this league than the premier League... I'm a Sunderland supporter, not a premier League supporter.

With the crowds, infrastructure, budgets and resources massively underachieving.
This just compounds further pressure however as a start your managerial appointments have been shocking, equally you will benefit from some ownership stability.
The Oxford chuckle Brothers, like Lee Power at Swindon should never set foot in the City / Town again.
On a positive you will get out of this mess in time.
One minute there's threads on here saying we put too much pressure on the players the next not enough!

It’s crap that.
Players should we running through broken glass to play for Sunderland. Maybe this is where David Brent is failing. Lack of motivation for a start is questionable.

I spent all summer trying to convince people we needed a keeper and should sign McGillivray and our 'plan/project adherents' told me to jog on.... I think I do have a problem with happy clappers, but it comes from when they're stop clapping and start lecturing their fellow fans, that we have this time come up with a cunning 'project' and just two more transfer windows and we will fly up the leagues and its always two more windows with the true believers and apart from the Parkinson era which was simply us adrift again, all of them had a cunning plan.

Its patently obvious to anyone with even an ounce of objectivity, that Johnson has lost direction and to be frank was never wholly inline with the truth in the first place. I think Warnock would be a breath of fresh air and a return to reality, where the truth is spoken in an unadulterated fashion and we the fans are treated as grown ups and not naughty silly children posting inane babble on niche sites.

You don't want better for the club then ?, for the club to be the best it can be ?, i just don't understand this mind set mind, i want the club back in the premer league, and doing the best it can, trying to win something and get into europe.

We have premier league fans and facilities, but the club has been run worse than a pub team in recent years and so the standard of playing staff and management is about what you would expect.
We have to trust in KLD and his staff to get it right.
If that means sticking with LJ for however long KLD sees fit, so be it.

U are arguing with reality... Of course I want better but in the meantime we are here. Ya cannot build a skyscraper starting from the top! I'm happy with KLD ownership and hopefully he can provide a sustainable football club
