Being in a Division that is beneath us doesn't mean a coach/manager will do the same sadly. They have a choice in the matter.

We SHOULD be a premier league team. However, having a big stadium with great support doesn't guarantee you anything. Unfortunately we're where we are because the string on our yoyo has detached and we can't bounce back up - major surgery on the yoyo is required.

We all knew that that club was on the verge of being sold, we had employed Speakman in a new role and there was light at the end of the tunnel . Then from my point of view, ” I’d like to introduce Sunderlands new manager, Lee Johnson”. That light was a f***ing train putting me back in my place. How dare I dream

Never once I have celebrated us getting to the pizza cup final, or winning it, I said at the time it was embarrassing and got pelters as usual.
It's a competition that's beneath us,since we dropped into league 1 I've said we should sack every cup competition off and concentrate on the league ,no excuses.
It infuriates me that someone here are thinking about winning the league cup, I know most of it is in jest , but even fans talking about getting into Europe just by making the final, theydonteven realise you don't get in europe that way.
People need to wake up, the only way we get out of this league is by fully concentrating on the league no distractions, no Wembley cup final in an awful competition. The first thing I would do is sack LJ and appoint Neil Warnock even if he just has a contract till the end of the season, sign 4 experienced players in jan, the first being a decent experienced keeper.
I texted a mag after our Wembley win in the pizza cup. He texted back that he hoped we win it next year.
The fact the mags want us to win it more than we do shows the competition up.

Yip, big crowds give you an advantage but guarantee nowt.

You cannot argue that the club is in a false position. Years of under achievement have left us in the third tier of English football.

The sad thing is four years on from landing here it seems we’re no further forward.

Yes we deserve to be here but come on let’s use what we have to our advantage.

We are by far the biggest club at this level, with the best facilities, the biggest stadium, fan base and yet the two most important factors of a club looking for automatic promotion seem as elusive as ever.

Can anyone say we have either of the following:

The best manager
The best players

Year upon year we have faithfully turned up - despite those who thought it wasn’t possible, over 30 thousand fans turn up to watch turgid League 1 football.

Surely now is the time for the owners to deliver our best chance of promotion and ask themselves is the current set up going to deliver that aim.

I still think everyone should be looking at the recruitment side and not the head coach.

I just think its too much asking so many younguns to get promoted in their very first season.

I think you missed what he was getting at.

We are asset wise a huge club with facilities to match, however we are in League 1, this means revenue from TV is low as is sponsorship, to become huge again we need to be in the top tier, once that happens we will see a change in what is accepted.
We have been through so much crap that many people are happy with mediocrity as it is a change from the crap we have had to put up with.
Personally I think we are too shy in complaining for fear of being labelled Mags etc so we just sit quietly whilst the team stutters on, whilst its ok to be happy with where we are if you wish, its not acceptable as SAFC to be in this position. It will be an interesting match against Ipswich for sure.
