Who's still backing Moyes?

I'm still backing him. Got some question marks and he will bear a proportion if the responsibility of we eventually succumb this summer. However, I still think that he can be a good long term bet for us if he can put into place a proper system for decent recruitment. weve got to look to the medium term

Done with him this long time tbh.

Lacks charisma, seems to always be negative and I reckon he's the polar opposite of Big Sam on the training ground in regard to personalities.

The first point is a huge assumption by you with nothing to substantiate it, and the owner looking to sell.
The secon point is garbage £8m on a centre half, and £13m on a midfielder is not cheap augmentation.

Our last few managerial contracts: Allardyce (2yr), Advocaat (1yr), Poyet (2yr), PDC (2.5yr), MON (3yr). Moyes is on a 4yr contract. Not much of an assumption on my part.

All clubs and players are always for sale at the right price. The current "for sale" speculation started at the end of November when Short produced a brochure on the club. One of the features that makes the club more attractive to potential buyers now is that we have a proven PL manager locked up for the next four years.

Finally, you are conflating two different points. "Young players with potential" includes Love and McNair as well as loanees Denayer and Januzaj. "Cheap veterans" includes Pienaar and Anichebe. Papy joined on a four-year contract less than two weeks after Moyes joined which suggests that the deal was in the works when Moyes arrived. I'd still put him in the first category as he is young for a CB but, in any event, it was an area where we needed depth and the price for a player with his experience isn't out of line.

There needs to be a rule brought in that a manager should be given a minimum of 3 years in a job before he can be sacked. If an owner appoints someone then he should live and die by his appointment.

Idiots on here asking for another sacking after 6 months.
:lol::lol::lol:

Who's going to enforce that? The FA?

Do you sit in the premier concourse by any chance? A bloke near me comes up with equally ludicrous statements. His latest one was the stewards should stop people leaving their seats and going into the concourse during the match- unless of course they have a kid who needs the toilet.

We'd have been relegated years ago if that was the case.

Possibly! But have you enjoyed being in the Premier League over the past 5 years? It's been shite losing every week watching overpaid fannies stroll around tripping over footballs.

Moyes would have known exactly what he was getting into and was given the opportunity to build over the long term. He inherited a squad that had been playing very well over the second half of the previous season with only the status of two loanees up in the air. On fairly short notice he augmented the squad with a mix of young players with potential and cheap veterans who he could count on to play a role. I doubt that he expected any of them to have to play a major role right away. But no-one thought Kaboul would be off and no-one foresaw the number and extent of injuries. Defoe (21), PVA (20), Kone (17) and Papy (16) are the only players who have started in more than 2/3 of our matches. Only four others have started in at least ten games. When some of us say that Moyes is hamstrung, this is what we mean - he simply hasn't had enough first team players available in enough games and now ACON is adding to the pressure. We had nine first team players unavailable on Saturday FFS. Even the top teams would struggle to compete with that number of players out. And yet, since the beginning of November we are tied with Bournemouth for 12th overall and remain only 1pt from safety with 17 games to go.
Exactly

I'm backing him simply because I know nothing will change until we have new ownership. Changing the manager won't matter.

I've just watched 'highlights' of his press conference today on the ITV news. This bloke has to be the most uninspiring manager we've had since Wilkinson; he positively exudes negativity and looks sick as a feckin' chip. Wenger once said that when he talks to the media he's talking to the players. If this is the case, we're fecked-no wonder they look demotivated.

Not sure about the "happy" to be patient, but I think it's necessary for people to at least try. The club is fucked from top to bottom now and there is no quick fix to it. Someone needs time to sort it out and in moyes, we have a man with experience who done that with Everton. No point in changing again imo, in fact it would be stupid to do so now.
Agree "prepared to be patient" is probably better wording

His press conferences are no different to how they were at Everton. It's either not as big of a deal as you're making it out to be or his persona in them isn't as damaging as you suggest.

we need stability so I'm still backing him. He should be here next season regardless of what league we are in IMO

Why do we need that?

I have. It's better than being marooned in the championship.
