You can toggle the alerts you receive by clicking on your name and then from the drop down menu go to Alert Preferences and you can customise which alerts you receive.

No Idea - I haven't altered my alert settings and I don't get the alert that you mention, I wish I did.

Untick all the ticked 'push' buttons.

Push notification for “watched thread” as threads you post in will be watched by default. (you can also change setting for that if you don’t want to automatically watch them)
