Where will we finish?


10th.

We always knew winter would be tough with Afcon.

And we always knew that if Xhaka got a knock it would be even tougher.

That’s all that’s happened. The team is showing the same quality and spirit and determination as the rest of the season. We’ve had performances like West Ham throughout, away from home, the odd stinker.

Beat Burnley and we are on 36 points. And that’s do-able, even without the skipper.

There is a group of 8 teams chasing 4th - we were near the top of that group, then after AFCON, we are now at the bottom of thr group. We are not detached from the group but we need to pick up results to stay in the group. Our away form is the biggest barrier to us pushing up that chasing pack in the business end of the season. I am not convinced we will mount a serious challenge for 4th / 5th, but we are definitely still in the picture for now.
 
Probably not far off where we are now but there's no reason why we can't finish a few places higher looking at the teams above us. I don't think Everton are better than us, and have lost Grealish. Newcastle have a hefty schedule so will likely drop points. Brentford and Fulham... meh.

I think my predictions, which were called by most PL football fans I know, wildly optimistic when they were made, were pretty darn good. But it's bloody amazing that we actually got hit HARDER by injuries and suspensions than I thought we would when I said 10th in late January, and we still finished three places HIGHER and IN BLOODY EUROPE!!!! Haway!!!!!!!!!!!!!
