What to do with Mayenda?

He's not even 21 yet.

I think people are forgetting how young he is.

Harrison Jones is older than him and he's barely kicked a football yet and he's getting released.

I'd hope Mayenda qualifies as homegrown next season and he'll be worth is weight in gold as one.

Only young but shown very little to prove he’s a PL quality player. Needs a championship loan and to be the main man and prove it over the course of a season.

Loan to the championship
I think people are forgetting this is only his second season in professional football

For a few of the younger lads, promotion came at a bad time. Patto, Neil, Rigg and Mayender were all improving but weren't quite ready for the Prem, certainly not after some of the signings we made.
Mayender's improvements last season were amazing tbh, he looked like he was going to be mega, but needed to keep playing. Which didn't happen.

I really rate the lad, but he’s not really getting much of a sniff at the moment (<800 league minutes all season, 1 minute in the last 4 games). Needs a run of games if he’s going to kick on

Of course, Wilson may be away, but they will surely replace him if so.

Loan time?
I think sometimes it's easy to underestimate the progression that players can make just through training/ coaching /learning from the experienced pros even through periods when they haven't had that much time on the pitch.

Take Chris Rigg. He got some game time here and there in the first half of the season, and I'll not say he was a waste of space, but he didn't impress. Comes back in Port Vale (everyone crap), but then Brighton, Newcastle and on ... and he suddenly looked a different player - he'd found his feet, got to grips with this level, team mates trusted him more. The stepping up didn't seem to come from gradual building up game time.

I'm hoping that Mayenda is progressing behind the scenes the same way Rigg did.

He comes across as a very likeable young man, but taking any sentiment away and you look at him as a player within the current et up and he is going to struggle to get minutes. It is all about opinions, but I think he would benefit going out on loan, but not the championship and rather a top flight team in Europe. All ifs and buts but lack of game time is costing him.

Loan him out....or in the case of we actually qualify for Europe of some shape keep him about to play in those away legs so we aren't working the team like donkeys all season

Nice kid, not good enough for the Premier League unfortunately. If we are to kick on we need to move him on and replace him with someone better in the squad

Le Bris and the coaching staff who see him in training every day clearly don’t rate or trust him enough to see him as anything other than a sub at present.

Only way for him to prove himself is to go out on loan and score a load of goals.
