West Indies Tour 2022

Bracey should have been in it.
Clarke for Pope
Yates or Robson would have been my backup opener.
Woakes out for Broad or Anderson

Aye the contradiction in the leaving out the 2 legends is picking Woakes

he is the wrong side of 30 and has played a lot of tests over seas.

If this is all part of some supposed long term plan to win Australia (got I hate that mentality) then what has Chris Woakes got to do with that?

The squad is so glaringly obviously missing a reserve top order batsman. I just dont get the logic of not taking an extra man for a 17 man squad.

Its so short,

Its exactly what happened last tour, Ed Smith picked a squad with not many batsman, Jennings got dropped, we got an injury, and they had to pick him again for the last test.

I just dont get it, even just for practical reasons. Who opens if Lees breaks his finger? if Root breaks his finger?
I just can't wait to see the meltdown when Foakes has a hand in 12 wickets and scores a ton in the first test 😎

Be no meltdown on this board like. People will be delighted.

I will be slightly resentful if Pope gets some runs I must admit, as anyone will score runs at some point if you give them limitless games. Someone else should be getting an opportunity, lucky lucky lad.

No doubt in my mind it's Roots decision to leave out Anderson and Broad and the top and bottom of it is if Englands bowlers do an acceptable job in the series in the Caribbean they are not getting recalled.

Hussain confirms it to be true that Root want's to take the power back from the bowlers
Oh well we will see what happens if England bowl well in the Caribbean they probably won't get recalled but if they struggle then the two old stagers might hang around in county cricket and make it uncomfortable for the management.

Any links?

Absolutely shocking if true. It's one thing doubling down on a bad captain, it's another sacking two absolute legends of the game to free him up to captain badly, because he's too much of a soft cock to manage senior players. Embarrassing.

But for the fact Lees, Wood, Stokes and of course Colly are involved in this tour, I'd be laughing my tits off if we struggled to take 20 wickets.

Broad I can sort of understand, he's been on a downward trajectory for some time, but Anderson is playing the best cricket of his life and it's shameful you would leave him out in favour of someone as ineffectual as Chris Woakes. Just look at his record overseas FFS:

Why do your bowlers need to bat? We could do with the batsmen being able to do that for starters

Apart from the difference the likes of Starc and Cummins made in the Ashes you mean. You cannot have 4 x no.11
Anderson is a superior bowler to Broad which over-rides him averaging ~8 (my guess) less with the bat since SB got hit on the head.
He is also 39 and can barely be relied upon to get through back to back tests let alone from one series to another due to niggling injuries.

India usually have 3 and do alright. Australia could have had 5 number 11s and would have won that series easily.
Pick your best 4 bowlers to take 20 wickets.

His fitness isn’t an issue either, there’s a reason why he’s played more test matches than everyone bar Sachin. Robinson could barely run in his second/third spells in Australia

He said he was fit to play all 5 on the last tour. Don’t have a problem with JA and Broad rotating, but of the two Anderson remains the stronger imo.

Anderson’s fitness levels are better than Robinson’s
