West Indies Tour 2022

strange as the times has gone with expect big changes to the squad by colly and co

then you read the article, and its basically Lees, Foakes and bohannon in the squad, with probably only 1 to play

Hardly think thats big changes like

Sounds like 1 of Jimmy n Broad to be gone

I really think they are missing the point, they just need to win this series

This talk of getting rid of one of Jimmy or Broad is pissing me right off. Our two best bowlers, Jimmy is performing better now than he’s ever done, is almost better away from home than he is at home and I’d seriously be thinking about giving Broad the captaincy, and they’re talking about sacking one or both of them off, it’s madness. The batsmen have been the problem, as we are all fully aware, but once again it’s the bowlers that will pay the price. It’s f***ing amateur imo

There's an inference in that Times article that Broad and Anderson were a diversive influence in the squad. Had good reason to be admittedly but that sort of behaviour can't be tolerated, particularly senior members of the squad.Quite happy with that squad.Glad both Colly and Stokes are involved in a senior capacity- they'll select purely on merit and won't tolerate any indiscipline.

Carse and lees to benefit ;)

That’s nothing new though tbf, I’ve no doubt Root’s found them a challenge to manage since he took the job but that’s probably on him just as much as them, and the fact is they’re our two most successful ever bowlers and probably still our two best. Seems stupid to being getting rid of either one or the other, or worse both.

Broad dropped as well apparently, absolutely mental

“Play younger bowlers instead”

Robinson- has worse fitness and bowls slower then either of them
Wood- hero but injury concerns and wouldn’t be used as opening bowler anyway
Woakes- he’s 32 and useless outside of England in tests
Archer- injured
Stone- injured
Sam Curran- injured
Carse- injured

Id understand 'resting' 1 of them given its only 3 tests, but to not take either

Exactly, not exactly full of choice right now.
Broad And Jimmy should still be our 1st choice bowlers at home, and at least 1 of them needs to be starting our away tests, the Ashes series just gone showed that

Whoever made this call is an idiot.

Strauss surely the one who's made it?

Not good signs at all. We can't rely on Jimmy forever but why not continue to use him while we can. Especially when he was our leading wicket taker in 2021.

Broad was our best bowler in 2020 and far younger than Jimmy so also makes little sense
