West Indies Test Series

Giving Atkinson the new ball is clearly looking further down the line, Stokes talking about him and Wood having the ball when it starts to swing.
Can see Pennington getting the 3rd test in place of Wood should we win and maybe Potts for Woakes

Zero point in selecting Woakes just because he can’t bat a bit. These tests this summer are against 2 really poor sides you need to see if Potts & Pennington can do it against weaker opposition as if they can’t you they are going to struggle against the top sides.

Woakes could be huge against India this time next year. As could Jimmy have been (and Pakistan away) which is why I’m sad he’s gone. But Woakes is a much better bat.

Last year Anderson's average was just shy of 40 and his strike rate was 87, comfortably his highest since 2005. He got that down to 28 in tests this year but it's still 10 higher than 2020-2022........maybe they just think his performances are tailing off
