Type of player we should be after
You've got to be kidding!
We need a fresh start with young, hungry players, not geriatrics. He's exactly the sort of player SAFC have signed in the past, and exactly why we are fucked now.

Completely understand your point there but was times Gayle was injured and Murphy wasn't played or they could have went with a two up front etc but only going by hearing what mags said etc and when hearing radio saying he's barely played etc
some people on here are f***ing thick deluded cu.n.ts we will need about 4 strikers next season after defoe fucks off. murphy would be a cheap option who scores a few goals to boot we haven't got 100 million to spend ffs f***ing idiots
Surely not, he was useless when he was here before.I'd be happy with that.
Exactly what we do not want, ex players who weren't good enough first time round. He is a decent championship player and did well for us in comparison to others, often used out wide as well, he's not great but far from the worst we've had. For a million orso would be perfectly a perfectly acceptable signing.
But he was good at championship levelSurely not, he was useless when he was here before.

Even Moyes isn't that stupid...is he?
Can't you do both? buy a n experienced striker to come off the bench when needed, and a young hunry striker to be your first choice? So if you don't want us to go through the short-term tactic of buying geriatrics for a quick fix, rather than building a team from youngsters and maybe having to wait a couple of seasons for a promotion challenge, you're a 'f***ing thick deluded cunt'?
I don't think you've thought that through...
Was two years backExcellent in the championship. Wouldn't be any complaints here
In a sense, you can't guarantee success through splashing the cash..Smells like bitterness.
Wow.

That's fair enough, but there's value in signing experienced pros like Murphy. Someone who knows the league and can settle nerves or whatever. Too many inexperienced younger lads would see you more nervous in tight games, might see you struggling to bounce back from defeats etc.Sure, but the post I responded to seemed to imply that if you weren't in favour of signing the likes of Murphy, you must be expecting top players to sign, which is utter crap.
Personally, I believe the way forward, as painful as it will be, is to build a young side from scratch and avoid the temptation to rely on buying old players for a quick fix.
I'm prepared for a couple of seasons in the Championship if it means we can have a fresh start with a young team.

I agree that if you're wanting to change the direction of the club you need to change the transfer policy, but Murphy makes sense for Sunderland this season, imo
I see your point. The trouble is, SAFC would buy Murphy on a five year contract, pay him 50k a week and guarantee him regular starts!
We still need some experience at this level and Murphy has that as well as scoring goals in this leagueSo if you don't want us to go through the short-term tactic of buying geriatrics for a quick fix, rather than building a team from youngsters and maybe having to wait a couple of seasons for a promotion challenge, you're a 'f***ing thick deluded cunt'?

If we sign him and he scores a few to help us get promoted then he's worth itHe's almost finished though! He's no SKP, who would still have been a good buy at 34.

Sure.Based on newspapers making shit up in the summer. 2+2=5
