This genuinely wouldn't surprise me. The lads didn't do controversial messages (other than the proposed one for the mags game), most fans enjoyed the displays, the club knew they were good for marketing purposes. There's literally no reason whatsoever why they'd throw obstacles in their way. One or two obstacles could be incompetence from the club, but it seems like it was constant. Not a single display happened without them doing something to piss the lads off and make life difficult.

Mentioned before, whilst rawa have to do things a certain way, groups like SO37 could be a lot more reactionary, they have a lot of the young adult demographic following them, they could easily organise protests etc which would be visible and embarrassing to the club. They never showed any intention of doing that, it was all family friendly displays, but I do wonder if people at the club were worried about the potential of what they could do, saw them as the potential start of an ultras group and just wanted it to go away. And of course, the person with the most experience of ultras and the power they can hold, and the biggest reason not to want them would be the man at the top

I never considered that angle...probably because it's so far removed from the reality of the situation i.e. fans just wanting to showcase to the rest of the country and beyond what we're all about and how special a club this is. But ya right mate...it is simply inexplicable the absence of support and enthusiasm from the club. On the one hand they've got f***ing framed pictures of S037 displays on the stairs down to the tunnel whilst on the other they're complicit in pissing off the lads to such an extent they've rapped in. This has really struck a nerve with me i have to say. Season ticket holder for nigh on 40 years and never felt as disillusioned as this.

Yes it will be. At one of the previous meetings I brought up about them pulling the defoe surfer but at the time they had an easy out (they said they had a meeting pencilled in with the SO37 lads to discuss everything) so it's something that's been on the radar previously and which definitely needs raising again, especially in light of the fact it's now got so bad that the lads have actually decided it isn't worth doing any more

its mental when you put it like that. its right though, they've milked the social media and optics of the displays for their own gain, without crediting S037 once, and at the same time actually gone out of their way to try and stop them putting them on

It's absolutely f***ing nuts mate. I like to think I'm pretty good at seeing the other sides perspective...i have to as part of my job....but this whole debacle is beyond belief.

As i keep saying, it is such an easy win/win for the club and for such miniscule effort on their part that to conduct themselves the way they have towards the lads screams gross incompetence of the highest kind at best, and foul play, mischief and malfeasance at worst.

But as I said in another thread, trooping over to B&M for water and extra rolls of duck tape, and into a Mcdonalds just for a coffee to keep warm cos it was that baltic, all while ya grafting away right next to the f***ing catering stalls - ya couldn't make it up. How hard to plug a tea caddy or coffee machine in ffs man.

Nobody (other than Chris Waters) coming over to see how we doing and offering support or thanks. The lads having to ask the club to turn the bastard lights on. The club revealing the display on social media after the lads asked everyone to keep it quiet - and to top it off, not even tagging them or crediting them in the picture. Still no dedicated storage facilities at all for flags and surfers that cost thousands of pounds and are just slung over the back of the south stand. No assistance to offer seating plan assistance for designing the displays. The list just goes on.

Other things to that i would love to ask them anarl personally - why can you not offer aassistance and support on match day over the tannoy during the build up? Time of display, basic instructions, encouragement to participate, ccredit to the SO37, offer details on how to volunteer and when, encourage donations and how they can get in touch with the lads. Basic f***ing stuff that takes ZERO effort.

It's heartbreaking and infuriatingly in equal measure. The lads have laid the foundations of something that could go on and be f***ing brilliant. Yes there's been mistakes, yes there's lessons to be learned, yes some displays have worked better than others - that's how these things evolve. But fuck me the hierarchy have made this an impossible task. I just hope KLD reads this board and fixes it soon.

This needs pinning to the top of the forum. It needs to be on the RAWA meeting. Club profiting on the back of it. Shameless, tone deaf twats, taking the absolute piss out of us.

As you say it’s heartbreaking as this sort of movement is crucial for fan culture in the modern day and these lads were doing it for the love

That was because he knew it was getting cancelled and wanted to cover some losses from the donations imo.

Was a massive red flag at the time and kooks even worse now.

You'll have loads thinking it was all the club, if I didn't get on here I'd think it was the club doing it. Like you say they've been happy to milk it use it in pr yet they've been less than supportive and actively making things hard for the so37 people, f***ing beyond a joke.

As a comparison does anyone know how much Whore Flags of Saudi Utd. spend on their displays and how they are funded?
