If you didn't like the cats eyes at the playoff then I don't know what to say. It definitely added to the atmosphere and looked class hence the club have wacked it's image everywhere.

A quick google search brings up their website which states:

And thereā€™s a figure of ā€œ1301ā€ Fans that contribute monthly apparently.

I donā€™t know how we can disprove that, but im sure I heard their human rights abusing owners have given them cash in the past which was probably ā€˜glorifiedā€™ (ā€œlook at me!ā€) on their twitter etc. Thereā€™s no way they do their displays for their games via fan money alone.
 
See there's still so called fans on twitter running with the money thing, supposedly showing one stand display at Leicester that was supposedly done for Ā£1500 as proof money has went missing. Completely missing out the fact this was a full stadium display with more than just cards that was on show in the proof they posted.

I'll be totally honest I don't engage with fans on twitter it's literally like the absolute worst type of fan possible. But I didn't know the so37 lads were putting up with this sort of shit constantly from our so called own fans, that last bit I doubt they are even fans or even go to games at all.

I deleted Twitter off my phone on NYD and it's done me the world of good. The wannabes on "Sunderland Twitter" are the f***ing pits. They make this place look sane.

This place seems placid and level headed mate. I only go on it to check for news and transfer gossip but somehow some of the tin foil hat stuff made it on my feed and sent me down a rabbit hole. Some people need to get a life mind. You know for a fact none of the donated a penny either.

I know for a fact the Saudis paid for the Wembley display, and theyā€™ve surely lumped in for the bigger displays.

Having said that if theyā€™ve got 1300 fans giving a tenner a month each that would probably cover the smaller ones given they often reuse the two surfers and flags of players etc.
Something we could look into, though I donā€™t blame the So37 lot for getting pig sick with the opposition from the club and criticism from the ā€œsupportersā€ on Twitter.

Another issue we have is brain dead types who make doing the opposite of the mags their idea of support. ā€œThey protested their owner so weā€™ll sit on our hands in League 1ā€. ā€œThey have flags so I donā€™t want us to and Iā€™ll insult anyone who tries to get anything goingā€.

I should get off Twitter really but I travel loads for work so feel I need it to stay connected.

We did the Sheffield Wednesday stripes for about that. Iā€™d have to dig out the invoice but it wasnā€™t much more.

Then people kept throwing the cards on the pitch, so we had to swap to plastic which is much more expensive.

Didn't realise we had so many artists and event planners on the forum.

The displays looked class - that and the pre-match atmosphere were a real source of pride during an extremely dark week.

You do need a very thick skin when undertaking any highly visible work like this - everyone will have an opinion on it and the vast majority simply won't be worth listening to.

Fuck me. So someone, with a full time job, has to set up a flags group. Run everything past people who are donating, which would be incredibly time consuming as they'd all want to be allowed to make suggestions and no doubt "vote on the winner". Be continuously audited against every purchase they make. Be 100% accountable to knackers on twitter at all times. If they do all that and give up days of their time to the cause then it'll all be worth it because some wanker off twitter will "follow em". Form an orderly queue people.

The thing with these displays is it gets a lot more people in their seats prior to kick off and builds the pre match atmosphere. This then carries on into the match.

Any normal game and you have hundreds still making their way to seats after the match kicks off.

Atmosphere has been poor for years at the SOL. Since the SWC spread into the South Stand the singers have been spread out and even from my position in the SEC you can here different sections singing either different songs or out of time with each other on the same songs.

Another factor is you'll get the more well known songs going which spread around the ground but then we don't build on that and a lesser known chant is started at a million miles per hour which then doesn't spread.

One of the best chants last season was when the SWC started the Diallo chant which was really slow and went of for at least 15 minutes. Next home game the South Stand started it off at a much faster speed and it didn't last 2 minutes.

We need to start having a look at ourselves regarding the atmosphere and not always blame where the away fans sit.
