We’ll sing what we want

On the whole we have fantastic support and shouldn’t lose sight of this.

However, it’s time to admit and face in to the fact we’ve a serious problem with a minority of our supporters who clearly think it is OK to be racist.

Unfortunately they are a reflection on society atm. What with this, and jumped up little wankers causing bother after games. We need to get a grip of them and weed them out.

What if it’s true??😂

All jokes aside It’s not ideal chant but it’s hardly a nasty chant that blights the game and the club, the overreaction is boring .
Quite a lot of Gary linekers on here acting all horrified and ashamed like it makes them sound all lovely and great people

Ok. So if there had been a biggest dicks in the championship competition and Amad had entered this competition and won then it would just be a stupid song. As far as I am aware there hasn't been so it's racist.

This.

It gives ammunition to shit loads of Journalists, reporters, other fans (especially Mags)

We have so many thick as fuck people following us its unbelievable. Don’t sing it and if your around people who do, tell them to pack it in.
Our fans used to sing something similar about Ameobi it's pathetic.

Embarrassing chant but the numb nuts won’t stop at a guess.

i used to hate the girls cheating about my nob. Mind I’ve never liked eenie, meenie, minie mo.

I honestly think it's gotten a lot worse since we were relegated from the Prem, and especially during the League One years. I think when we were in the Prem a lot of the thick people knew certain songs and views were wrong and couldn't air them (in the ground anyway) because of the scrutiny from the media, but the lack of exposure we have now compared to then gives them free reign to say what they like. And because they aren't being pulled for it or scrutinised it validates them.

We'd have been rightly slated by the media for booing the knee if we were still in the Prem but it's gone largely unnoticed in the Championship and League One.

I agree. And that time period has also overlapped with a time where people in society have become more emboldened to demonstrate their ignorance more freely.

Same people defending this will be the same people that defend calling someone a p*** because they're 'probably' from Pakistan...idiots man.

It's staggering that in 2022 there are fully grown adults who think songs like this are OK. And people who can't see that it's racist.

We have a problem.

In previous eras it could have been explained away as ignorance due to lack of education and awareness. Nowadays it’s wilful ignorance at best and overt racism and bigotry at worst.

This chant isn’t the worst example either.

🤣🤣

Apologies, I am half cut.

Diallo chant sang after 2 mins and then 2 mins later the south stand sings ‘we’ll sing what we want’

It was 30 seconds gone when the first Diallo chant started cos I looked at the clock. I never heard the we’ll sing what we want chant and I am in U37.

There were pockets singing it without the dick words but the majority didn’t change.
In hindsight, was the Wes Brown chant also racist? Sort of implies he's a big brute, which is also a historical stereotype of black men.

The Wes Brian song was based on Bad Bad Leroy Brown by Jim Croce.

The footy version was probably less controversial than the original lyrics:

And it's bad, bad Leroy Brown
The baddest man in the whole damn town
Badder than old King Kong
And meaner than a junkyard dog

Interesting that people say the minority of idiots won’t stop singing it but they can be drowned out by the majority of sensible folk when it’s heard surely?
