I remember when he bank rolled Dunnington CC in the York and District League.
The first four in the batting order between 2000 & 2004 were:

Simon Kellett, Harwood Williams, Alvin Kallicharran and Collis King

Collis King wouldn't have been far behind -both would by then have been in their 50s and far past their best. What sort of message would that give to youngsters at the club? -purely to satisfy one person's ego.

Played against them a few times. Even before those players arrived Graves used to pay players a match fee plus £1 a run and £7.50 a wicket

Aye mate. Happened with a few clubs in the South Yorkshire League when I played.
About 15 of them would migrate between Rotherham Phoenix, Treeton, Wickersley, Elsecar, Barnsley and Rotherham Town. Most of them ended up with contracts at all of them over the years
