Warne and cook

Cook's inexperience has been very noticeable especially in comparison to Clarke who's field placings and bowling changes have eked the best of what is pretty meagre Aussie fare this tour. Warne is spot-on and that's not being harsh on Cook he's just learning his trade in test cricket. I loved Warne's suggestion that Cook should have put should have put Root straight on to bowl at Warner when he first came in just to play mind games with him, would have been class.

brendon mccullum... he's an excellent captain, probably the best around at the moment. gets a lot out of an ordinary team.
Was happy to stab his team mates in the back to get the job tjough

Exactly, results count and Cook has got the better of both. Ask any Aussie what they think of Clarke's captaincy. There are several ways to manage a team - in work as in cricket - the only right way is the one that produces results with the staff available.

Agreed. He is winning - that will do.

Fair enough he's a naive negative idiot.

I think that pretty much settles it, I'll just ignore everything ever write about cricket. Moronic comment.

In the wider discussion though, I wonder if it's the increase in t20 that's leading to more people abandoning the basic principles of Test cricket? It seems that people are unable to appriciate the longer format and unless England are constantly attacking and have 6 round the bat then it's boring negative shite......

And only the English could get on Cook's back after being 3-0 up in an Ashes series.

Should let them win, just so we can moan a bit more.

You are keen enough and that's a start. I really wish though that you could be barred from here for say 5 years, learn your trade and then be allowed back on.[DOUBLEPOST=1376472755][/DOUBLEPOST]

Easy things to suggest from the comfort of a TV studio. In reality it was never going to happen - I would rather have Bresnan bowling that delivery that flew of a length to get Warner out that Root bowling dobbers.

This! Cook's tactics in the field have been spot on IMHO, but Australia have also batted well. A lot of people seem to have interpreted Australia's good batting as poor fielding/bowling from us, the fact is, the 2 aren't mutually exclusive.

The only slight criticism I have of Cook would be that being a bit more positive with the bat, like we were in the 2nd innings the other day, would do us no harm at all.

Depends upon the situation and the weapons at a captains disposal. The game was running away and the bowlers were struggling. In that instant it was right to go defensive and to try to dry up runs/create pressure. Warnes view is probably steered by the fact he played in an Aussie side who had so much talent they simply didnt need to defend.

When he first started with Sky I thought Warne would be a tosser, he turned out to be surprisingly half decent....clearly he was just keeping it all bubbling inside until now. It's a shame Marlon Samuels didn't ram that willow into his genetically modified mush.

I hope Liz Hurley recovers from her mid life crisis soon for her sake.

Well I was right

Can't really blame him for the inept fielding shown in the first innings, if you ask me some of the senior players are letting him down big time. Everytime I see Swann on camera in the dressing room he just seems to be arsing about like the class clown. Have a laugh fair enough, but they are getting humilited by a bunch of f***ing rank average cricketers, Clarke aside.

in the last test both anderson and tremlett went over to swann and 'congratulated' him as he just conceded his 100th run... like you say have a laugh but for fuck's sake you're getting tonked all over the shop in an ashes series and folk have paid good money to go over and see you play, take the fucker seriously...

I hope they drop Swann for Panesar out of principle, they won't like.
