Don’t agree, he’s behind him, and woujd have been a good 2-3 yards behind him when he was lining up for the chip. Add to that the noise in the stadium and his own focus on what he is gonna do. Personally I thought he didn’t do a lot wrong. The keeper made a good save. Could he have got his head up, seen Talbi making rapid ground, slowed it down and fed it to him for an easy strike into an empty net. Quite possibly but it’s all so easy in hindsight.

I think though, if it falls to Wilson he buries it. And if it falls to Brobbey he slows it down and feeds Talbi. All different players. Everything is a piece of piss in hindsight.

At the time I thought the best option was to round him either way as he had pace and the keeper was flat footed. Chances are if he didn’t get round him he would have been felled for a pen.

But it wasn’t going in it was hit so weakly and from so far out that the defender would have got back even if the keeper didn’t save it.

It was a bad choice but these things happen and always will. Key moments define seasons. We’ve had some go our way (Chelsea and the mags away) others not so (yesterday and Wilson’s chance at the end away at Liverpool).

Undoubtedly he could have taken a different option leading to a win. But, I'm not going to slate him, as in a different game that type of audacity/confidence/ skill could lead to 3 points.

I'm happy for the players to back themselves and try stuff, with the caveat that they learn to take the better option when available.

I’m really staring to wish I hadn’t read some of the comments. I didn’t think it was possible for me to feel even worse than I was on Sunday teatime.

The "angle" thing is one of the issues he had. I've never played the game at anywhere near a decent level so would never be over critical of any player missing opportunities however even I remember early years coaching when going 1-on-1 with the keeper you were always taught never to run straight at them.

These things happen I guess, win some, lose some and move on. Let's see how we respond on Friday.

I don’t think he knew talbi was there and was purely concentrating on the finish he’s chipped it at a decent height. Just a good save although it’s always easier saying .. he should have done x instead.
