USA v Ireland

GarethQ

Striker
Currently on premier sports. Ireland getting carted all over in the first T20. USA making 187/6 in their innings, after being 16/4

I assume he has to do a qualification period or something, sure he's moved out there now. I only looked at the scorecard to see if he was playing.

His wife's a Septic isn't she?

US cricket was in complete disarray a couple of years ago. Think they have some form of expanding T20 competition now though.

Yeah, I mean cricket qualification rather than being able to live there. Sure I read an interview with him talking about getting involved over there a while ago that made the move sound imminent if it hadn't already happened.

I think he's knocked ideas of playing for the US on the head cos he'd be 40 year old when he qualified. Involved in the coaching side though. Is there any official badges in cricket like there in footy?

Ah right, no idea on coaching badges, I'd assume there's some national things but I don't think I've ever heard of anything like UEFA pro licenses etc. Wouldn't be surprised if there were some kind of coaching licenses you need in the USA even if they aren't specifically related to cricket, just looking after player wellbeing etc

The new generation they've got coming through look miles away from those they're replacing. Essentially club cricketers replacing country cricketers for the most part.

Little, Adair and Campher look like they have potential but their batting looks awful other than Stirling

Games now scheduled for 3pm Wednesday and 7pm Thursday (UK Time) - Freesports website reckons the Thursday game is live but Wednesday's could be too as there is nothing live on their schedule that they'd have to bump. We'll see.

Series cancelled - While all players in both current playing squads have returned negative COVID results overnight, two members of the Irish support staff have tested positive, as well as several partners of players, resulting in two of the Irish players being deemed as ‘close contacts’.
