I lived there for ten years. My wife is one. Ive got loads of smoggy mates. In general.they are as good as anywhere....but in footballimg terms, they love to hate all things sunderland. Never quite worked out why.
 
I get told on here I'm over the top and Boro lads are good lads and a good club etc. When i say I'm Teesside born and bred, went to school the lot here, all my mates and some family are boro fans and i say they hate Sunderland, truly despise and hate us and for some it's the city they hate too not just the football club many don't believe me. Then you have Sunderland fan's say I hope Boro come up. I wished they died in 1986. Not that I hate them I'm not arsed, it's I know how much they hate us that I hope they died. But outside of football and outside of Sunderland being a bitter topic for them they are in the majority good people in Teesside.

Respect is a 2 way street. Those who dont mind boro probably havent heard how much they hate us.
