What would making him sound less British achieve? The Guardian is a left wing paper for middle class people. I'm not sure what they would achieve by making him appear less British.
The usual reason to refer to someone by their surname is because they've done something wrong. Criminals are usually referred to by their surname and victims of crime their Christian name is used.

You’ve only got to watch the telly to see most of the people police arrest say they are addicts, suicidal, injured, on drugs / drunk, claustrophobic, have mental health problems or anything else to not get arrested. Guess they just stop taking on face value what people say when they turn up to stuff 🤷‍♂️ in this case it’s led to someone not getting treated and what’s happened.

Doubt it’s anything to do with race at all, just too used to dealing with messed up people who lie about everything.

As you say, the Guardian is left wing, probably the most prominent publication that is, there is zero chance they were ever going to push any sort of anti-white bias rhetoric.

The paragraph before they start only using his surname, they layout grounds for why minorities are the real victims of police bias. Then he, as a victim, is referred to only by his non-British sounding surname, it's weird.

Because he’s a total ****. Starmer and Mahmood are also hypocrites. They were happy to support BLM. They were happy to “share the anger” in 2020. I’m not partisan like you, I can see they’re all hypocritical tosspots.

You must have me mixed up with someone else as I've been critical across all parties at times. And I will praise where I feel fit too. Was only yesterday I was saying the Tory leader spoke the most sense on the incident.

Edit. That's good to know though because ftom your more recent postings I had you absolutely nailed as one of these tribal tateys. I obviously got that wrong.

Its about culture, not skin colour.
I was massively shocked a Sikh did this.
If it was another culture that sometimes do this sort of stuff, I would have not been shocked.
