The sad thing is that the Sikhs are probably the most assimilated, hard working and decent immigrants that have come to this shore .

And that's all fine and well you saying that now, but it affects people in different ways, "I wouldn't have done it that way" doesn't compute in policing because of what they deal with daily affects everyone in completely different ways and everyone reacts in different ways to trauma.

Ultimately I'm not defending them I've already called them potentially poorly trained, arrogant, lazy, misled and naive. But there are untold number of reasons as to why that could be.

It certainly isn't a consequence of having a PowerPoint or online training package to complete. The cops and NHS staff who I know who have mandatory training forced on them simply click through the slides and hope they pass the e-assessments at the end to get it over and done with as quickly as possible and get on with the work they are meant to be doing

I’ve said for years that if immigration is not sorted out , the people who will suffer the most will be the decent , hardworking immigrants who have actually made a life for themselves here .

I agree . There must be people who look out of the window and think WTF has happened , no one looks like me , talks like me or has my beliefs or culture. It has to be unsettling and that’s not racist , that’s just a fact .
 
There is a problem though when the media and other pressure groups (including politicians) insist that their particular interest is a first priority above all other considerations.

the pressure of these groups gets very much inlaid into organisations thinking, this can have an adverse effect on other considerations. there then is a fear of upsetting that pressure group, whether it be racism, violence against women, lgbt matters and so on.

some procedures are then laid out in which an officer must abide, if he does not he is then open for disciplinary action against him and then sacked. some forces insist a prisoner is handcuffed for example.

will the hierarchy who made these badly worded procedures be brought into the dock, no they will have been promoted and done off somewhere.

instead of advising officers, be aware of all the information given but it is they who must assess the situation.

proceeding on with a flowchart just does not work as the situation is so fluid.

It should be remembered the first priority of the police is "to save life and limb"

I'm in a similar boat to you but for entirely different reasons. I loved my colleagues (well most of them) because they all, pretty much, wanted to do the right thing, worked hard, respected others and were curious and empathetic to the public in general no matter race, culture etc.. I think I was lucky being in a Force which attracted a lot of good people.

That being said I have a deep rooted lack of respect for the organisation and institution as a whole. It treats good people badly, employees are numbers to do with as they please, its policies, training and procedures are antiquated. It's filled with career coppers who just want to get promoted as fast as possible despite incompetence and the system allows it. It's certainly more concerned with public perception than actually doing the job effectively. It's recruitment process is out of whack meaning it now favours recruiting 18 year olds with no life experience, pure naivety, very little common scene and a lack of bravery (scared of conflict) in tough situations.

You've then got coppers like the ones in this incident, misled, naïve, lazy, incompetent and arrogant rolled into one package.

I used to love the job, I'm 34 now so my entire adult live was dictated by my time in the Police so far. I just have so much disdain for it now as an organisation. I'll still defend it when it's needed on issues, but I'll happily call it out too. I'm sorry you had such unpleasant experiences, you're not the first and you won't be the last.

That sums the police in this hideous incident for me. A total lack of his duty of care.

But it shouldn't distract that one man stabbed another and other people covered up and misled the police too. They were deliberate acts. They are the main characters here.

Absolutely mate and I've been guilty of it in missing the wider point, we're distracting ourselves with authority behaviour and sometimes failing to acknowledge or forgetting that a tragic incident took place in which one man took another's life and he is the one to blame and the vast majority of the anger should be directed towards another human being murderering another human being.

This is the problem. “People” like Starmer thinj that if it wasn’t for people like Farage and Musk that people would just be apathetic to it all and go about their daily lives as if it didn’t happen. People are very angry and rightly so, regardless of what Musk and Farage say. These feelings are prevalent to begin with. Every time this happens we’re just expected to not get angry and carry on

The saddest thing is a politician has purposely whipped things up, ignoring the victims families wishes. Obviously the idiots he has following him lap it up. Even Restore pulled the tit over it.
