Universal Studios UK

I can't see me going myself as I hate theme parks but I'm only around 30 miles away and think it will be good for the area.

A sensible location too. Between London and Birmingham, along the Oxford to Cambridge corridor and with good road access from A1 and M1 with East West Rail coming soon .

Be absolutely class this, got an AP for Orlando but will be buying one for the UK version.

Could spell danger for flamingo land etc.

People will still always want Flamingo Land and Lightwater Valley probably because they're NOT as massive as Alton Towers or this new one.
That said, I'm really looking forward to going. I'd love to take Mini-K to Florida to see all those theme parks etc, but if there's one in this country, then I'd aim there first.

Good point, though I cannot understand the direction Lightwater Valley are headed. They market themselves as a kids park now but when I was there with my niece, I overheard many say they were bored. Maybe new management is needed there.

And 150 miles away!

But it is great news that we're finally getting a top end theme park in the UK, having missed out on the Euro Disney Park (to Paris), and then the Paramount Park (cancelled).

I'd be surprised if Lightwater Valley lasts until the end of next year. Place is a complete mess as they've targeted a young family crowd and removed every thrill ride of any sort. Total stupid decision if you ask me as unless you only have young kids it's a no go since anyone older than like 10 will be bored.

The owner of Universal is Comcast group, who also own Sky TV.

Don't get too excited - this hasn't been through the British planning permission system yet.
Unless there's some rare bats or something, it seems like most locals and all of the nearby councils all like the idea.

The big issue is the same one as stopped the London Paramount Park going ahead, can they raise the billions in financing to make it happen?

No Ultimate. No Party

Great news for the UK. Pity its not been built in the North.
For it to make sense, it needs to be commutable from a London Airport and the Eurotunnel really. Its probably in the ideal spot. Even for us, it means not needing to go to London

Aye fair points marra.

Just a pity it wasn't in the North as the infrastructure around it would have improved no end.

Its right what you're saying about London Airport & Eurotunnel.
V accessible.

If only HS2 was going to exist in the north east, it could drop us off on the doorstep in 2hours. Could get their for open and get us home after close without too much bother.
Pffff.

Good for the country but the weather and temperatures in Britain will always go against it. Main reason I enjoy universal studios was atleast waiting around was nice in the sun and warm
