Understanding Le Bris - What the Forest game can show us.

Must sign up to your Patreon soon. Always an excellent watch.

Do I get the sense you think Regis Le Bris actually knows what he’s doing, so far @10 Trenches Deep ?
Ahh bless you Sir. Indeed, Regis seems to have a clear plan. He's talked about having set piece plans and seems more structured around the entire field than Mowbray and Beale. My only concerns so far is he seems very, very rigid in his plans. It will be the same gameplan for every team we play. I mean, I would hope that some observation of the opposition would mean pressuring or protecting certain aspects of our play against certain teams. And it is a system that stifles Dan Neil's creativity. But let's see how it all pans out and I'll report back in a video as things develop; it's exciting in that respect. I thought that was a decent showing after only three weeks training an entirely new system against Forest.

I love your videos, and kudos for making them...... but when you highlighted Roberts moving from the right wing towards the centre when Forest had a throw in on the left wing.... haway man, that's not a system nor tactics, he's hardly going to hug the right touchline when the opponent has a throw in on the left touchline.
------------
That play on 33 mins (about 8 mins into the video) - That's 200% Luke O'Nien's mistake- not Alese, Hume nor Neil. The runner down their right wing is Hume's man, and he tracks him. Luke steps across to cover unnecessarily as Hume is getting back, and leaves a gaping hole in the middle of the penalty area.

Yes, you are right. the wingers do come in normally, but I dont think weve seen seen them as tight in the centre as this, except things like Leeds away. Both wingers defending on the centre circle is extremely narrow. But sure, I may be reading too much in, they do move quite purposefully in transition though. Perhaps I'm just excited?

And yes to Luke, I gave him the benefit of the doubt as I think he's worried the runner has got a march on Hume and is past him, decides too late that isnt the case. Either way our communication needs to be better managing those channel runs.

Glad you like the vids.

Off on hols for three weeks, so will miss the start of the season as usual. I'll be back for the second League game, so until then I have this mammoth breakdown of the Forest game where Regis started with a strong side, probably not too far away from the one that will play Cardiff. What did the game show us in terms of how Regis is going to have us play and what chance it will work for us and how far off being ready with the plan are we. All the information you need to decide is in here. Enjoy and Ha'Way the Lads. Perhaps we'll have a striker when I get back?

Cracking video, as usual — enjoy your holiday!

My only real concern about Le Bris is his tactics defensively. He was criticised at his last club for refusing to change his defensive set up despite conceding the most goals.
But of course he is relatively early in his managerial career and could well have learnt from that criticism since.

Here's hoping we have a striker that starts games and scores goals in, by the time you return. Thanks for the videos, really helpful and enjoy wathching them with my lads.

So basically playing the same way England played in the Euros, midfield set in front of the low block.
It seems to be the modern way.
It bored me to tears watching England.

Cracking video Trenches.
