Alright lads and lasses.

Last week we had a Ukrainian family move in nearby and my eldest has befriended their son.

He loves his footy and my youngest lad has very kindly donated his season ticket to this young lad so he can experience live footy for the first time.

Obviously the lad has arrived with just the clothes on his back and has very little possessions to speak off, certainly nothing footy related anyway.

Iv dropped Chris Waters an email to see if the club are in a position to donate anything for him that we could collect on the night.

Bar Chris managing to get back in touch with me (it's only 48 hours till the match) does anyone have any ideas on people at the club to contact / places I could contact to get the lad kitted out with footy gear?

Cheers.

Try the Fans Museum? They’re great people with a great community spirit.

I wonder if ALS would let him pick out a tee shirt/hat from their merch stand? Snap a quick photo for their social media which may lead to other clubs doing similar.

Either way, a lovely gesture from your eldest. Is he unable to make the game? Shame they can’t watch together if they’re becoming good mates.

Thanks, great idea. Il drop them a line.

Sorry, it's my youngest who isn't going. My eldest is still coming. 👍

Can he play on the left wing, and put in some decent crosses ?
Asking for Nathan Broadheed and Ross Stewart. 😉

Seriously, I hope everything works out well for the young lad, and his family, and he has a memorable night at the match, on Tuesday.

Well done also, to your son, for his kind & selfless gesture, to the Ukrainian lad. 👍
👏👏👏👏👏

Class that mate, hope the lad has a great time and the family settle in ok.

Actually, the more I think about it the more a fundraiser sounds ideal. Not just for this lad, but something where our fans can donate and next season money can be spent on tickets and safc merchandise for any refugees who have arrived and want to watch some football. There's loads of great fund raising going on for the humanitarian drive in and bordering Ukraine, but this could be a really good thing to do locally

Thanks mate, that's a really good idea. We're just up against it in regards to time, I'll see what I can do.

Anything anyone can do to make it extra special for the lad would be fantastic.
Could you arrange to meet up a hour or so before the match and people can bring along stuff for him. Will need to know his size of course.

Yeah. This is obviously a time sensitive one off but as an ongoing thing this would be great. There’s going to be a lot of displaced people arriving after a traumatic time who will be looking for ways to join their new community. Nowt better than the football and local fans actively helping you be able to come to the games would probably feel pretty welcoming.

Would be a great initiative for RAWA and they may even recruit some new flag putter-outers 😉

That would be very very kind of course! He is 12 years old so anything medium to large boys would be amazing. I may need to make contact with the club first so I can store stuff somewhere if loads of stuff turns up!

Indeed!

I'll give Chris the rest of the day and see if he gets back to me. If they can donate for the lad then there's no need for a fundraiser. But, if it gets to tomorrow and I haven't heard anything I'll set up a quick gofundme and see if we can get enough together for a kit and maybe some boots.

Thanks for the kind comments and suggestions oh wise SMB. Love and Peace x
Happy to meet before the game and give him an SAFC scarf that has never been used, not sure if that’s the type of thing you’re after but if so, happy to give it to him so he has something with the colours!
