Which was us, and so we have qualified on merit according to the competition rules.Not quite.
The allocation of places in UEFA competitions looks like this:
5 places in the Champions League - allocated to teams finishing 1st to 5th in the Premier League
2 places in the Europa League - allocated to 6th in the Premier League and to the winners of the FA Cup
1 place in the Conference League - allocated to the winners of the League Cup
If the FA Cup is won by a team that qualifies for the Champions League, then that place goes to the next highest place teams in the league. If the League Cup is won similarly, the Conference League place goes to the next highest ranked team.
So Bournemouth were the team that qualified for the Europa League in accordance with the original criteria. We got in by something of a side door.
him/herWhich was us, and so we have qualified on merit according to the competition rules.
If Monaco qualify then they will do so only by virtue of a qualifying teams expulsion. They themselves have not qualified on merit their league position only earned a conference league place.
Ignore @Roker Mackem and their input as they’re clearly in the windup. The context to all of this was me saying it wouldn’t be fair for Monaco to remain in the tournament ahead of us, when we qualified on merit and they (potentially may) qualify through the back door. The inference being that there is a disparity in how we have qualified and our eligibility. You are just encouraging him/her.
Dunno, just sounded to pluralhim/her
p.s. why not just use them?
Eh? How's that thenWe got in through the back door

No it's exactly that. Fairly and squarely qualified for the Europa LeagueSadly not![]()
Dint be daft.We got in through the back door
Not that it matters anyway given we'd be ahead of Monaco, does none of rule 5.01 not apply to Sartori? I would have thought being Vice President would fall into this below?
To ensure the integrity of the UEFA club competitions (i.e. UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League), the club must be able to prove that as at 1 March 2025 the below multi-club ownership criteria were met and the club must continue to comply with the below criteria from that date until the end of the competition season:
No club participating in a UEFA club competition may, either directly or indirectly:
hold or deal in the securities or shares of any other club participating in a UEFA club competition;
be a member of any other club participating in a UEFA club competition;
be involved in any capacity whatsoever in the management, administration and/or sporting performance of any other club participating in a UEFA club competition; or
have any power whatsoever in the management, administration and/or sporting performance of any other club participating in a UEFA club competition.
Dint be daft.
I’m interested in why you think he is a parasite?We need to get that little tw@t out of our club. We will be OK this year but it could affect our future. Just say next year we won the europa and qualify for champions league but Monaco have a great season and also qualify. Their league position would kick us out. That parasite needs removing from our club.
The only thing I will say, is that it almost became comical the number of times we failed to get the 3 points in the last 8 or so games, only for nearly all of the other teams to lose or draw as well. It ended up giving me right buzz after thinking our chances were over again and again.We got into the old UEFA Cup through league placing via the catflap?
Aah man, here was me thinking we'd had a mint season, the best in a generation.
Ruined.![]()
Bit of a radged comment this one.We need to get that little tw@t out of our club. We will be OK this year but it could affect our future. Is it about money? Because he certainly isn’t at Sunderland for the money. He is a wealthy guy who is married to a multi-billionaire. He also has invested significantly more money into the club than he could ever take out of it (until he sells his share of the club).
Is it about his involvement during the Donald era? Because he certainly isn’t part of Donald’s social circle or one of his cronies. Its widely publicised that he knew KLD before he knew Donald. He met Donald when he tried to buy Oxford, Donald subsequently approached him about Sunderland because he needed his money to make a deal happen. It was Sartori who then brought KLD in when Donald was looking to sell. Without Sartori, there would not have been KLD.
Surely it’s not because he’s VP at Monaco? His wife and father-in-law own the club, why shouldn’t he be involved in some manner. He has no ownership share at Monaco, so if there was a future clash, then all he would need to do is resign his position at Monaco.
So what is it that makes you so convinced that he is a parasite?

I see the point you are making, but in those circumstances, we'd still qualify ahead of Monaco as qualifying through winning a UEFA competition outranks position in your domestic league.We need to get that little tw@t out of our club. We will be OK this year but it could affect our future. Just say next year we won the europa and qualify for champions league but Monaco have a great season and also qualify. Yep. The 2 families that we have involved as owners of the club at the moment, are worth >£10bn between them, and are proper football people (owners of Monaco & ex-owners of Marseille). And because it’s private money it can be spent without as much scrutiny as some others. I love that KLD’s wife is at most games, that his mum was at the Chelsea game, and that Sartori’s wife was also at the Chelsea game. If even the owners are treating it as a family club, imagine what it must feel like for the players.I think people tar him with the Donald / methven brush and there’s some that won’t like his political activities. He was pretty inactive during the initial L1 period which is fair to question and criticise, but as you say, he brought Kyril on board and the rest is history.
Hes involved in a lot of stuff at European level through his role at Monaco, think he was at some event before the CL final last week in Budapest. If you look at his social media he seems to have real genuine enthusiasm for the club, as does his wife and family. Farage stuff wasn’t great but overall I’d say good people to have on board and not obviously in it for the money, seems more of a prestige / hobby thing for them.
Eh? Why are you being disrespectful to him?We need to get that little tw@t out of our club. We will be OK this year but it could affect our future.
