Trouble again

We were in the bottom right of the Fulwell looking at the Roker End standing in front of Big Al (The Bear) and coins were raining down on us, we went to the kiosk at the back at half-time and could see the mags (wo had got in early) had took pretty much the whole end.

They might have closed the turnstiles when fighting broke out in the queues and just inside the turnstiles - a lot of Sunlun had to watch from the Roker End.

This was the Derby of the infamous cement bags of weapons being thrown over the wall of the Fulwell.

That's exactly how I remember it.

I also recall loads of Sunderland piling out of the Clockstand paddock into the Fulwell to have a go at the Mags.

I'll never forget feeling physically sick at the sight of dozens (I'm not exaggerating) of fans leaving the Fulwell with blood streaming out of terrible head wounds

They were lead along the cinder track (as it was called then) in front of the Main Stand to below the Roker End terrace, where in those days the St John's Ambulance team was stationed.

There was a photograph on the front page of the Echo the next day (match was played on Good Friday) of all the weapons that were thrown over the wall of the Fulwell, which included hatchets and knives.

The level of violence that day was unbelievable and is indelibly printed on my mind.

Aaah, my mistake mate, I thought you meant a Sunderland lad. I actually thought you meant a lad called ben( this was his surname though)who had long hair. Great lad.
No worries mate , wires crossed I thought you knew some of the mags , one was this Ian who went around with us to raves n stuff back in the day eventhough we all knew he went around with the dark side , sound lad to be fair, our lot were all well known in town luckily for him as he got spotted couple of times when out with us 😬

  mad that North shields carry on man. When he went to court he was sitting next to the bloke who hit him with a baseball bat at Shields ferry...recognised each other n court got adjourned or something n them 2 went out n had few beers together! Mad! He once took to a pot noodle to an away match on the minibis..didn't think about how he would make it on the bus! some of the older lads from Roker Park might know him aswel.

Police are expecting bother?…
Can’t really see it myself but there you go.
They are classing it as the same as a Sunlun/Newcastle game according to a plod commander who spoke to me today.
580 coppers on duty.
Must be 560 more than a normal match!!

The club will be hugely concerned about Sunday mind. They simply can’t have a repeat of Coventry and Burnley.

There will be a big police presence in the away end and in the immediate area around the SOL (particularly around the turnstiles).

If objects start to come down, it wouldn’t surprise me if the game is stopped

I hope I’m wrong .

I’ll be stunned if nothing comes down.

Sadly, I agree mate. I have a horrible feeling Sunday will be a disaster and you will see stoppages to the game whilst the police try and sort things out.

The club will be desperate that a sizeable police presence - alongside a reduced allocation - will be enough for them to get through the match without incident

I know I’m probably in the minority but the away following should never have been whacked up there.

Tbf mate, for years we had very little problems (with the exception of Boro and Man Utd). The problems started when we were relegated and we started to give big allocations to tinpot clubs.

Make no mistake though, if objects are chucked on Sunday, people will lose their shit in the North Stand.

Out of curiosity, I’ve just checked the boro website and says nothing about coins etc being banned.

Well that’s a start isn’t it.

I’d have put the away section in the lower north west corner that would’ve kept the roker end all home fans.

So you haven't seen the video on you tube of west ham taking over back in 80s filmed by the police.easy to find .
West ham .took over at Millwall big mob attacking Millwall pubs ect .on you tube from 80s.police recording . difficult to say if it was Millwall's main pubs am sure the dark one will be in the know
The west ham of yesterday and today's lads aren't comparable mate. Most are Joey Essex type lads, living off their Fathas rep. Millwall are just the same as always when they need to be

The cup run in 92 when we had West Ham up here in the replay. I was in the clock stand seats next to them.

Nobody was going near them like.

Seriously , talk about geezers.

Re. Boro definitely talked about by different firms ..been there few times first time about 87;I think it was the league cup match . Sunderland went mental .lot of seaham lads .off train clearly remember few Boro coming over they got absolutely battered.cars overturned one Porsche wrecked .then he'll on outside the ground they were in the side paddocks.police escort back after game so nothing much happened .in the group I was in ..over to the Riverside in 90s Boro waiting outside .well known seaburn straight into them ... remember they had some Asians .seen them in London on tube same faces they been to Millwall ..
But the point is when it was at its peak west ham took liberties on that video

Wasn't that Forest? I remember a bus going past and a seat being hoyed out next to the Wheatsheaf. I was standing having a pint, talking to my mate and then there's a load of Forest piling off a bus, hoying a seat. Knew we should have gone to the Wharf for the strippers instead.
They parked the bus down the back lane where the bus depot was. Tried to venture into the terminus around half 12 ish. Met at the door with pool cues the lot, ran back over the bridge, they got smashed to fuck.last season at Roker that was. Escorted from the town over to RP, sheepish as fuck we were into them again after the game outside the New Derby . f***ing hate Forest me like
Scabs and wanking the Mags off. Vile club.

One year Sunderland took big numbers train from Bristol .ask Cardiff about that .or the central in Boro
Cardiff will tell you biggest and best down there in living memory was SAFC circa early 2000’s. Hundreds stopped in Bristol and trained in. Cardiff stayed well clear.
