I have as do many others. Absolute stupidity that they are in such a dominant position in what was supposed to be the main home end (the new Fulwell) when we first moved to the SOL and which I think now could be given over to our younger fans possibly with cheaper season cards to get a better atmosphere going, although winning football ultimately determines if the place is rocking or not.

Putting them up there ‘out of the way’ was part of a stupid trend in football over the past couple of decades to get away fans out of sight of TV cameras etc to a position where their support would have less impact for the home club. It happened all over the country and did not help overall to create a better atmosphere in stadia.

Away fans are part of the culture of the game and should not be treat like shit by ignoramuses within the game who know nothing about such culture and whose negative actions do nothing to create a better match day experience for the home club or away fans.

If we move them, they will only go back to the South Stand. That means the Roker End will be dismantled and the family stand moved. You’d be moving a lot of SC when the club need every penny.

It also means you will see empty blocks of seats behind the goal when clubs bring small support. It also gives the opposing team a big boost if they bring a large travelling support

At Roker Park, I saw away fans get variously allocated the 3 different sections of the Roker End, Clockstand paddock and seats, and Mainstand seats, depending on numbers brought.

Could the SOL really be so inflexible in terms of where it might accommodate away fans?

The SOL was designed to host the away fans in the South Stand mate. The concourse on the lower bowl has limited facilities within the corners as it was again designed to allow home fans to walk around. I also believe that each corner has potential issues around security which the police don’t like.

Aswell as having to move thousands of season tickets holders it would also be a massive shame for all the work that has gone into the flags display before they have had chance to be used in Premier League games.

I’d leave them where they are but for now, while crowds are small, close off the front few rows. It would make it more difficult for them to throw things and if they did they would have to move closer to the front where they would be more easily spotted on CCTV.

I’m pretty sure they could move them if they really wanted too, it would just need effort and money spent (to separate the fans downstairs).

It’s not just about keeping them separate mate. The concourses were designed to let home fans move around and therefore the facilities are really poor in the corners.

For example if you moved them into the North West Corner, you’d need to effectively give them most of the concourse to the half way line. Of course, that would mean you’d lose an entire block of home seats in the West Stand (not to mention you’d have the away support next to hospitality and underneath the boxes)

Before the match I'd been outside the away end talking to some hefty gentlemen from Peterlee. They declined my invitation for a quick pint in there after the match. I binned the idea and drove home the couple of hours instead. Shame.

Although no doubt the Crewe scumbags sent in a little spy to make sure the odds were in their favour before they bravely burst in.

Morning mate, I was advocating not letting the Morecambe fans out till the CCTV had identified the "thrower". But, they were let straight out. Was your son serving away fans or did some other safety issue keep him back?
