Trott has left the tour !

They do not have a like for like replacement, they either have to bring in Ballance and bat him at 3 when he has bated at 5/6 for past two seasons in county cricket for Yorkshire. Or they reshuffle the order bat one of the established batsmen at 3 and bring in Ballance Bairstow, or Stokes if they think they require a fifth bowler on a flat Adelaide pitch.
Bell has experience batting at 3 albeit he's done far far better at 5/6. Considering he was our best player in the summer can we afford to move in away from his position.

In this politically correct world I knew that someone would take offence.

Let's try this one again.

Trott: hope the lad gets the treatment he needs; however irrespective of how sensitive a soul some of you are the Aussies will have a f***ing field day with this.

Warner will be a hero after his comments and walking ten feet tall. That's the reality.

England look like they were bullied out of the first test. We look weak as fuck and the Aussies will give it more of the same in the second test.

At the minute there are now massive question marks over the England players temperament and you can bet that teams like the windies and others will be keeping a close eye on this.

Rubbish.

Love it how because we lost a test match we have suddenly been bullied into defeat and we are weak. Hows about the Aussies played well, had good plans for our players and we didnt have any answers on this occasion?

A few words being said has had zero impact upon the England players performances. Its not like our players dont dish it out - Trott, Broad and Anderson never seem to stop giving the opposition stick.

Just because one player goes hom with a horrible illness doesnt suddenly bring our temperament into question. The same way as it didnt when Tresc went home.[DOUBLEPOST=1385376346][/DOUBLEPOST]
Stokes should come in adds to bowling and batting
Cook
Carberry
Root
Bell
Pietersen
Stokes
Prior
Bresnen
Broad
Swann
Anderson

I reckon It'll be Bairstow instead of Stokes. Id be tempted with Balance coming in.

Is Stokes good enough? Haven't seen enough of him to judge - is he just another Chris Woakes?
The England set up view Stokes as the next Flintoff.

He's a better bowler than Woakes, didn't do enough with the bat in the championship however.

But he's destructive when in form.

Well he isn't getting much sympathy in the office
Comments such as eh he is just a cricketer and it must be hard being on holiday on Australia for a few months are my current favs.

Morons like, some people just don't get it.

As for what we do now, Bell has to go to 3, he is a fantastic player and its a shame to move him but he needs to stand up again, his team needs him.

Move Root up 1 and I'd bring Stokes in.

I think you could look at his first class average and think he isn't ready but many players have modest records before having great test careers, Vaughan and Trescothick. He may not be in that class but he defiantly has that special somnething IMO.

Bairstow will probably get picked but he was very suspect against Roach when we played WI a few year back.

Bairstow is one of those who looks every inch an international cricketer until he has a bat in his hand. Admittedly, he's had a stop/start career but he was rightly dropped for the 5th test (albeit for the wrong player!)

Think he may well end up joining the likes of Lathwell, Ramprakash and Maynard as those players who looked the part but couldn't handle the step up in class

Sounds like Depression to me, similar to Trescothick. Stress is usually short from for Depression in these instances. In which case, nothing else matters. That’s almost literally what depression is-life is barren and joyless and grey no matter where you are or what you do when its at its worst. It's an emotional and philosophical cancer. Wish him the very best.

I’m not sure the Aussies will have a go at this either. They’re pretty forward thinking on the mental health front, especially amongst males, it’s a big thing there. And I don’t recall them ever having a go in this instance. They’re vicious in the moment but I don’t think they would go after something like this, most of them are decent human beings when not playing sport.

Would be gobsmacked if the players have a pop, however the press are a different matter.

I think the whole Aussie sledging/mental disintegration stuff is very over wrought personally. If England played strictly to the spirit of the game and didn't dabble in it themselves than you could take the moral high ground, but fact is we don't and we give it as well, probably just not as well, that's the difference. The way to prove David Warner wrong is too show you aren't scared. Telling tales about it rather confirms his point if you ask me.

Bell looks to be one of the few who can play the short quick stuff (helps being so short I guess) so Id have no problem in moving him to three.

Only bit Ive seen was him saying Trott was shit scared of them and had fear in his eyes[DOUBLEPOST=1385382718][/DOUBLEPOST]Edit: basically he didnt really say much
Cheers.

having watched that although he has overstepped the mark a little I don't think it is that bad considering he was more than likely unaware of Trotts state of mind.

As for the sledging in general I think it is good and is always present at test level, especially in the ashes although Clarke may have taken it a bit far with the arm breaking comment.

All in all, we need to find an answer to a left arm quick (who is not world class) bowling bouncers and ignore the chirp from the fielders, basically England need to grow a pair and get on with the game. The batsmen need to turn up and backup the bowling unit.

Looking forward to the reaction from the England team in the next test.

Yep, I think it was definitely said without knowing Trotts state of mind (if it comes out that he was well aware then Id obviously change my view point). He basically said what we all thought and that the innings was weak and poor and that he feared the short stuff.

Clarke definitely went too far there, talking of physically injuring players is out of order IMO.

I agree. If we cant play shots to the bouncing ball then take a few/leave them alone.
