Transport - little help

Hey. I travel down from Edinburgh for the games. Usually got the car, but family emergency this time means I won’t have it, and will need to train back from Newcastle after the games if I can make it in time. Anyone able to tell me how easy it is to get the metro after the games back to Newcastle? Is it frequent, queued, mobbed?

Trying to guess at what time I get into Newcastle for train back.

It's difficult to estimate. I stay till the end so if I'm traveling by train I hurry to the metro but I often have to queue and get on the second train, often 20 or thirty minutes wait. Half an hour to Newcastle. Sunday service might be different but I can't see you getting to Newcastle before 7.

They will be doing a lap of honor tomorrow so people leaving will be a lot more spread out but with it being sunday there will probably be less metros

Could you walk to sunderland and get a train from there instead of the metro. At least its timings should be more accurate

You've got two options immediately after the game - the SOL station or walk back into the town and get the metro from the train station. There will be queues at the SOL but you'll beat them by getting on at the train station, even if its slightly further away. Not sure what the timetable is on a bank holiday and potentially you'll want to stay back if we win but anything after 7:30 will be fine.

Yeah, definitely don’t want to be leaving early, think we owe the team some applause at the end of this season. Think I’ll be ok if I get to Newcastle before 8
Ok, so there’s a train and a metro, did not know that.

Metro fm Sland at 1917 you should easily make, theres one around 1850 as well. You’ll get to Ncl before 2000 no bother. LNER have just cancelled my trains from/to Northallerton for some unknown reason. I’m going to drive up fm York.

614 train from sland gets newc 633.

Or 714 train gets in 733.

Theyre your best options id say rather than metro. Were going south but if yer lucky ill give you a can on the platform.

I’ll always take a can! I’ll be the guy who doesn’t look like Rutger Hauer
Train sounding like better option then. Doubt I’ll make 6:14, so will aim for 7:14

I've never missed a train mate, but with it being a big game and R1 weekend, I'd plan ahead. Had a couple of near misses.

We've booked the 20:00 one to be safe.

Now you've gone and done it ! 🫣

You'll be swamped, by hundreds of parched, MLF's, desperate for a soothing gargle, after shouting themselves hoarse, cheering/roaring The Lads, on to a Europa Conference league spot. 😁
