Wasn't sid James at one point to big for their support?Only caught a bit of the programme last night. I’ll definitely go on bbc sounds to get that Colin Young bit.
On the ground capacity subject I heard Barnesy saying at one point the sol was almost too big for our support while the Newcastle lot were discussing whether 60, 70 or 80k would be the right size for their ground.
What they didn’t say (in the bit I heard anyway) was if roles were reversed and we were bankrolled by a (hopefully more ethical) obscenely wealthy state and could spend our way into the top six, how many fans would we get?
Even John Anderson was saying as much. All you’d need is a mid table finish and there’d by thousands of empty seats !Wasn't sid James at one point to big for their support?
Like when they were giving away 10k FREE season tickets.![]()
Amazed (but not surprised) he wasn't called out on the show when he said thatColin Young absolutely panning our owners tonight - worth a re listen.

Loves to have a little dig does Barnesy, does it canny often. Wish he’d fuck off tbhOnly caught a bit of the programme last night. I’ll definitely go on bbc sounds to get that Colin Young bit.

John was playing as was Micky Quinn Lee Clarke ect when they were getting crowds of 10000 in the nineties -so he knows how support goes .Even John Anderson was saying as much. All you’d need is a mid table finish and there’d by thousands of empty seats !
Just listened to it and didn’t think Barnes said anything wrong to be honest.
They also had a bit of a joke about the guy saying they could fill St James’s three times over later on in the show
yer i thought the stuff from barnsey was a bit respectful about the capacity putting down our support yet bigging up theirs.....i know they have a lot of blood money but both sunderland and newcastla have similar catchment area for fans and there is a f nite limit to both with actually how manyay people in the region are actually interested in football and moreso are willing to shell oyut the £££ to watch..my personal opinion is that sunderland given the same circumstances of success would be able to attract the same number of fans as the scum... Barnsey was banging on how we struggled to fill the ground one boxing day despite efforts from charlie and the club ffs that was in the 1st division 44 thousand ffs canny crowd in my book!Only caught a bit of the programme last night. In truth newcastle on average have nearly always had a slightly larger crowd than us (not by much)but but the only difference between us and them is the success that will be brought by the blood money of the saudie state and its about time our commentator Barnsey acknowledged this .
Tonight they were rehashing the how big st james park should be (one nutter yesterday suggested 150 thousand?and discussing why KLD as owned of safc does not do interviews with the local media putting him down for not doing so yet no mention that the scum owners haven't done it either..fekking priceless!
I thought he had already had his operation?Apparently its Marco last show tonight before his op.
I wonder what he makes of our new Head Coach appointment?

Best wishes to Marco, but I’d rather have all me teeth pulled without anaesthetic than listen to that drivel.Apparently its Marco last show tonight before his op.
