Tony Mowbray - returns as Blackburn manager

I don't think any of this happens without his contribution. Not this quickly and not in this manner.

We were heading in the right direction by the time he joined, but he established the blueprint of our playing style. A young team playing fast-passing football on the front foot, extremely hard working and not afraid of a battle.

He left the club in a very admirable way too, regularly praising us in the media and therefore ensuring that we didn't lose too much momentum after a underwhelming season.

He helped build Sunderland's reputation as a brilliant destination for ambitious young players, and that might the biggest factor in making last summer such a spectacularly good window.

There are a lot of people behind our current success, but it's rare that a relatively short-lived ex manager has such a positive and long-lasting impact.
Spot on. His contribution to where we are now was MASSIVE.

Find it crazy how people get so worked up over the Dack signing.

Speakman sold off every player aged 27 or over, leaving us with a squad of 21/22 year olds who'd looked to them for leadership suddenly having to lead a number of even younger foreign kids just arriving at the club from abroad. Speakman tried to peddle Pritchard on top of losing Amad, leaving us very light in that position. We know Mowbray didn't have much input into transfers, it's perfectly reasonable he'd want to bring in an experienced player who'd done very well for him before on a 1 year contract on a free, even if it didn't work out and he was shit.

No worse than Masuaku and the only difference between him and the likes of Aaron Connolly is we found a taker for Connolly a few months in.

Yet for some, everything he did is invalidated because 'but Bradley Dack!'
