Tommy Watson

Saw Mepham have a word with him as soon as the booing started. Was quite noticeable. Assume old pro lifting him.
He was joking along with him it looked like to me.

Probably saying to him that he needs to prove what he’s worth.

Definite improvement from him compared to Bristol City away.

Why would the 'model' reject bids in January and then agree a transfer for the summer if we needed the money now? I doubt we'd even get the money until the transfer is officially done with the registration transferred.

Makes no sense whatsoever. Normal for this place I suppose.
There’s no reason to disbelieve the announcement that was made. It was evident he wasn’t going to sign a contract, so we looked to get the best deal. Is it more sensible to do it in March, when it’s quiet on the transfer front rather than June when the whole merry go round is in process. What happened if he did get injured, the transfer didn’t happen in the summer & we were left with a young’un running his contract down.

We basically tried to keep hold of as much control as possible. Announcing it might have been naive, but nobody’s going to convince me we “needed to do it cos of the model”.

100%. This crack creeping in about greed and needing the money etc is complete fabrication.

Always needs to be a big conspiracy and meltdown at Sunderland.

How emotional were you at 2.55pm on a bank holiday Monday ?
Just below the belt embarrassing behaviour man
No need ,we can argue pros and cons ,he's been poor the last few games but he won't be the first or last
Other players will be thinking wtf ,which doesn't help one bit.
But yeah get rid of them and Regis and ,and until someone's happy ,oh hang on we aren't happy again
I'm getting emotional
Agree, other players must think who are these so called supporters

Maybe because Brighton raised the bid in April on the proviso that we wouldn't listen to any other offers in the summer transfer window.

TBH you come across as a smug smartarse - which is 'not normal for this place'.
It was touch and go for him signing a professional contract so he definitely has had his heart set elsewhere.

Was that not 2 years ago?

This still hasn't showed how 'the model' needs to money like you mentioned.

Always found booing a bit weird in general. Proper toys out of the pram stuff. Surely the worse we play, the more the players need support.

Not sure Tommy Watson is a big loss though. Will be much more disappointed if/when Mundle, Rigg and Bellingham leave.

@Roker Mackem - have you got a problem with the kid?

He's a 19 year old kid whose (IIRC) reluctant transfer to Brighton in January was fecked up by the interested parties.

The transfer was resurrected again in the back end of March - was he pushed because 'The Model' needed funds?

Nice that youre taking the side of a Brighton player above our own club. "Reluctant"

Hardly a supporter. Nurtured and developed all his life by Sunderland, then didn't want to play for us and couldn't wait to leave. Deserves the boos.

What's worse is that the players that do want to play for us, and got us to 4th and the play offs, are being booed off at half and full time. That's the kind of support our fans are offering our players going into the playoffs.

You don't understand? Are you for real?
Why is he not allowed to leave just because he is reportedly a Sunderland fan? He has gave all his life to Sunderland, if he wasn’t quite good enough would it have been ok for Sunderland to sack him off?

This can’t be true, he is a big head who the players don’t like, I read it on here. (It is true, I seen it as well.)

Or did Sunderland offer him a shit first deal?
its just weird feelings. if a contract offer, i would do anything to accept it. It is my lifelong to dream is to play for sunderland. Wtf was he thinking! Is he actually Sunderland fan? that a big question mark.
But you’re not as good at football as him are you? You won’t ever have the career or options that he has so his thought process isn’t going to be along those lines and won’t be for 99.9% of pros.
