Tommy Watson

Never understand why the club announced Watson already sold to Brighton which, as some have said, will attract extra focus on the way he plays or dosnt play or make effort.

I hope RLB does the right thing and drops him based on that performance at Bristol but fans need to remember ( Those saying hes being paid a wage ) The Club sold him for £10,000,000 so the lad will cover his costs and at his age he should not be put in the current situation.
He’s effectively no different to a loan player. Mepham isn’t pissing around thinking I better not get injured going back to Bournemouth. If he’s in the side (which I’d rather he wasnt)at least show willing. If not, deserves everything he gets. The lad has done the square root of a frog on the football pitch and clearly gone to his head…..

Not really comparable to a loan player to be fair. They're fighting for a place in their squad or showing there selves on the shop floor for a move elsewhere.

Tommy Watson isn't doing either of them.

Is it effort or is he just not good enough? (I'll add yet in brackets)
I think Brighton are mental for paying 10 million for him. He's not as good as Clarke was at his age (who ultimately was a flop for Tottenham)- I have a feeling they just liked the look of him and didn't like being told no by a championship club.

It's mental they've agreed to pay for him outside a transfer window as well, there didn't appear to be any competition for him. I just don't understand what they've based their valuation on- stats from the u21s (I'm assuming they don't have access to his training stats unless his agent was hawking them around)- they wanted him when he was injured as well.

Anyway the problem is it's a lot of pressure to out on someone's shoulders. Suddenly he's a 10 million pound player- so now we expect him to look like one- whereas a few months ago he was just an academy player who looked like he might be decent (like where Harrison Jones is).
If he'd performed like this in December we'd be understanding- "it's a lot of pressure, he needs resting or to play through it." Etc. etc.
Now it's just a 10 million pound player looking not good enough.

I don't think it's lack of effort- rather we are just seeing an 18 year old player struggling in a man's game. He should really be on the bench coming on at the end of games for mundle or Aouchiche..

Needs chucking on gardening leave and being kept away from the first team squad. We practically played with 9 yesterday. He hid as often as he could and didn't challenge for anything, caught out of position consistently, jogging back and not helping out at all with defensive duties when we were down to 10.

Bad attitude and his presence will only lower moral. Get him out and play anyone else on the left but him.

Good point that. At the end of the day Its down to how professional you are.

If these are meaningless games, as I am keep being told then yes. I'd like to see Aleksic given a run out there. Or Isidor out there and Mayenda up top. We have to keep Mayenda as the focal point. He looks 10 times the player Isidor does atm.
If Isidor isn't playing well central he won't on the left, we need mayenda and le fee playing central for the play offs anyway

Yet he's only been played once there, we all know it would be mayenda shifted if needs be
Well, that's different to what you asked me mate. It was bonkers taking Mayenda out of the middle yesterday as their 2 cb's were petrified of him.
I was definitely booing the ref. I didn't even see Watson after full time (I was well to the left of the stand just below the walkway).
...you must have been the only one unaware then mate of what was going on. Evryone was going ape shit across the whole end and it was all everyone was talking about walking out of the ground. 2 blokes were even scrapping about it in the bogs after the game.

Would you be happy started Isidor and mayenda and risking injuries, it also means whatever subs you make would be negative as we would have to replace with a midfielder

Must have been a conincidence the ref was going off at the same time then. Didn't hear any comments where I was.

Yes....they can pull an injury any second after coming off the bench...

It was def all aimed at Watson...you can see just by the reaction alone on here and social media, it's all everyone is talking about.
