Tommy Watson

...which was exactly my quote after full time on here. Hjelde n Neil turned round and couldn't believe what they were seeing, looking at Watson trudging off the pitch and not looking back.
Thing is, they should be giving him an internal bollocking if so.
Hope they do tbh.

My worry is we're too nicey nice and it'll be let slide

I have no time for Tommy Watson. He's looked way out of his depth in almost every senior game he has played for us, and has basically been refusing to get involved in the last couple of games. I'm looking forward to not seeing him play any more once the season is over (and we sure as hell won't see him playing for Brighton). He doesn't want to be here, I don't want him to be here.

But let's be honest - complaining that he didn't come over to clap the fans 6 days after he was booed off at his home ground is a bit rich.

I wish the young lad well. Sunderland are to blame. Quite simply, he should be on gardening leave.
He has been put in a ridiculous position for a young kid tbh....final straw that broke the camel's back today though.

Totally agree.

Disappointing thing for me is he is a local lad, supporter and has grown up with the club.

You would think he would be going all out to leave on a high and play a part in getting us promoted.

You could barely understand it from a journeyman but to put that half hearted performance in under the circumstances is shocking

I really think to many supporters are over rating him and his all round game. He is just potential and a couple of cameos earlier in season don’t change that..

He is a million miles from being a complete footballer highlighted by his lack of awareness of what’s going on around him, his naivety about what to do when, his defensive ability, and his physicality

He looks out of his depth, and very limited. He’s got the heart of a pea and just don’t understand why he is anywhere near the team unless it is to punish him

You know, the general consensus is that it was a gutless, couldn't give a toss performance from Watson. When all's said and done, maybe the real issue is that he's just really not that good ..
Was nowt at all about his ability today.....he just didn't want to break sweat, didn't want to put any sort of foot in, didn't track back, didn't ask for the ball, didn't celebrate our goal....didn't want to stay and acknowledge the fans.....

he's a kid who is barely ready. He got outmuscled and bullied. Yet once the bandwagon is rolling then it's easy to jump on the "he's not trying..".

Unless you are in his head you cannot be certain on how hard he tried.

Of course you can go with the "I know what i saw " line.
Didn't get near enough to an opposition player to get bullied

Great ability to find space mind. When in a defensive position

Maybe he was playing his own high line by pushing out ahead of the ball whenever possible

Said from the start when his move got confirmed that he shouldn’t even be on the bench let alone in the 11. If he’d gone on to prove me wrong with good performances, or even some effort, I’d have held me hands up. As expected though he’s confirmed what a lot of us predicted. I’d rather have a kid in the team, they couldn’t offer any less anyway.

Highlights his mentality and why he will fail as top level player.

Part of me wonders if safc hierarchy have thrown him under the bus.

Another part of me wonders if they're very naive and don't realise the response to his performances and we'll see him on Monday. That could be interesting

We'll see

Let’s be honest a decent pro would be thinking I’m going to show this club they should have done more to make me sign a contract.

His attitude is a disgrace and I’m over the moon the club have took the money.

Bit of both tbh.

I will be absolutely gobsmacked if Watson says again for us mate after that stand off today.

What was the atmosphere like to him down there marra?

were the fans on his back straight away or supportive? Tbf he I don’t think he did anything of note to get a positive reaction.

This is not having a dig at fans who were there just wanting to know the general reaction to him throughout the match.

fwiw my opinion on the situation is he should not be even on the pitch we could have Wilson on left and Mayenda up top but then there is a risk of one them getting injured
Supportive I’d say at the start tbh mate. That changed to frustration and eventually just outright anger at the end. I’ve never seen or heard a Sunderland player get the level of abuse he did when he sloped off the pitch at the end.

I don't think the club will be bothered as long as Mundle returns for the play offs.

We just need someone to stand there in short term so Le Fee can go in the middle.

If we go into the playoffs with Watson on the left wing and inevitably Roberts on right wing we aren't going to have the firepower to win them.

Cheers mate and rightly so as that performance was embarrassing and it’s clear he has downed tools

Saw Danny mooching about the back of the stand during u21 game against spurs when we had a load of 16 years olds playing.

No way if I’m one of those parents would I be letting th lads have Danny Graham as a role model.
I genuinely do wonder why anyone would choose him like. Did he have a glittering career? No. Was he seen as an intelligent footballer? Definitely not. He came across as a thick as fuck, useless piss head. Which parents are thinking "he'll be a good, responsible person to guide my son in football"? It was only two years ago when he was three times over the limit crashing into a f***ing Co op. But aye Tommy, you just listen to him
