Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

He was offering free beer ?
Like the lad now
For Reggie he was quite forthcoming-the lad wants away -his choice not the clubs
We move on
Reggie towing the party line. I’ve never heard anything from Watson or his agent saying he wants away. It still surprises me that people believe everything they read.

Tommy Watson's Brighton move being sorted is actually a blessing, IMO. Rather than having the lad stressing about whether the transfer will happen or if an injury might screw it all up, he can just crack on with his football now.

The certainty means his head's in the right place - he knows where he's going, the deal's done and dusted. It's not unlike when clubs sign players in January and loan them back - everyone knows the score.

Watson can focus on giving his all for us while he's still here. There's plenty motivating him - doing the business for the club his family supports, impressing his new gaffer at Brighton, and just his own professional pride.

Can't begrudge him taking the money either, can we? Football's a short career and we all know how quickly a bad tackle can end it all. When players get crocked, clubs aren't exactly loyal to them, so you've got to look after yourself in this game.

Hope he puts in some proper performances before he heads off to the south coast.

Have you not? There definitely was some talk about exploring all the options before he signed his professional contract

I'm not saying that's a bad thing. Just that it happened

If we sell Jobe or Rigg for big money we’ll be looking at spending 30m+ in the summer surely? More if we sell others.

As opposed to you, the enlightened mind, that automatically assumes that everything he reads is a lie if it doesn't back up what he already believes.
I question everything mate, it’s called not being gullible. Can you tell me where Watson says he wants to leave please?

Thanks for calling me enlightened, I’ll put that on my CV. However as you’ve never met me it is a very bold statement.

Teenage kid exploring options, whatever next.

He hasn't said publically said he wanted to leave, no, because generally that's not a thing that any player does unless a club is refusing to listen to their private request to leave. To assume that he can't have wanted to leave because he hasn't made himself public enemy #1 by saying it out loud is naive to the extreme.

Player’s will not sign new contract if the offers aren’t good enough

OK. Public enemy #1 to whom? If few footy fans, he’s in the NE of England not Bogotá. And it generally it is what players do, hand in a transfer request.

Transfer requests do not need to be made public, that is entirely up to the discretion of the club and the player. Players also don't have much incentive to publically announce their intent to leave a club as long as the club doesn't force their hand. It makes them look bad and damages the team. You not hearing a statement from Watson publically declaring his desire to leave does not mean that he never requested to be allowed to be sold, it just means that both parties came to an agreement before it came to that. Whether that agreement was for Watson to be sold against his will or for us to agree to his request to leave is ultimately something we might not ever find out for certain, but I know which scenario seems the most likely with the knowledge we do have.

Your comment is irrelevant to what I said

Brighton can afford to drop 10m and probably around 15/20k a week on a prospect. For us to offer him that in the Championship would probably put him on parity with some of the most established first 11 players.

I hope he's ready for his career to get much harder as he's done nothing yet, and his pathway to first team football has just taken a huge step backwards with the players Brighton already have on their books in his position, and that's without even looking at who they'll bring in this summer.

The clock starts to tick on his new big money move this summer, and time will tell if he can stand out in a larger pool of talent or if he'll end up like a lot of young talented lads who've taken that leap too soon.
