Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

He doesn't, his move has happened he just hasn't got there yet. If everything is finalised it means nothing if he injures himself apart from taking a bit if time to get fit in the new season. Not like he's going to go straight into their first team either

I know what you mean I just respectfully disagree, I don't think he'd chance not being 100% for his new employers. I imagine that'll be of more importance to him than our fate. Even if it's 50/50 it'll make a big difference.

He's going to have to take a massive leap in his development over the next couple of years to get to the same level that Mundle is currently at. There's a really big difference as things stand.

Maybe he'll get there, but I'm not sure playing bit-parts at a PL club is the way it'll happen. I suspect he'll be straight back on loan to the Championship next season.

Early days but he's literally had 2 decent games at Championship level in his career to-date. Not sure how anyone can think he's going to pull these rabbits out of the hat based on what we've seen so far.
I know we used to call him a Clarke clone but I don't think we were thinking he'd basically copy his career path

On the one hand ten million seems very good money for a player who’s played less than 20 first team games and not done all that much in them. On the other hand, he’s a young lad that has a lot of potential. Overall I just feel we sell our players a bit cheap - if someone like Bellingham, Rigg or Neil goes for less than £40 million this summer, we’re doing something wrong.

If we had 3 £40m+ players in the team we'd be pissing this shitty league man.

Without sounding like the mags but this bit pissed me off

'understands the pull of a club like Brighton.'

If there was ever a sentence to highlight our demise it's that little sentence right there.

I really don’t understand the pull of Brighton. Soulless club that will inevitably drop back down.

Let’s just call it what it is, a move for money, which is fine.

The players I think he means mate. It’s nowt new announcing over seas signings. And I don’t care how it effects some team in some league miles away.
But you won't care how it affects other English teams either. That wasn't his point, he said it doesn't happen but it clearly does.

Man City announced haaland was joining them during the season

Nah i'm questioning why (in numerous posts) he dosnt want to play for us and have already listed possible reasons.
Yes mundell wants to play and is a decent enough player, i'm not knocking him. But i dont know of scouts swarming all over mundell like they have Watson. Scouts seem to be swarming all over Watson so hes obviously got something special.
I thought we were meant to be on a path to success and had moved on from shipping out hot prospects. Obviously we dont rate him as highly or we just desperate for the coin.
Which other scouts have been looking at Watson?

I’m not sure it would’ve been less mind, depending on what he’d done for the rest of the season there’s a high chance we’d have gotten a pretty decent fee. This is just f***ing strange doesn’t matter how we all spin it we are going into the playoffs in a few weeks and just announced we’ve sold one of our first team players. It’s just strange as fuck like, it just throws up all sorts now. Fans reaction to it, will he even be arsed? Will he give his all etc etc all things that really didn’t need to be made public. What next we announce we’ve sold rigg and jobe before the play off final 😂 very strange from the club but some will defend owt.
Compensation always seems less in arbitration that what you can potentially get from someone purchasing a player. Also means you can add additional terms like sell on clause etc. Watson is backup, and played minimal time (granted still in and around squad when fit) but its completely different to Rigg or jobe who have played pretty much week in week out all season. We don't know the conversations that have been had but perhaps this was the best solution that could be agreed. I will happily complain about a lot of things. I just think this is something not to get too worked up over

I agree with that mate definitely. Just disagree that we offer poor wages to players. Gets said every time a player leaves, but the fact most players are happy to extend says otherwise.
They’re not all offered the same deal. Not everyone has another club also sniffing around while negotiating.

It may be he has greater clarity of mind now. It all depends on his own professionalism and mentality. But that would have been the case even if it wasn't announced
