Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

If this is sooooo common, then maybe you can give me examples of when other clubs have made it public Knowledge that they've sold a player in April?

Sounds like your just sticking up for the club, which is your choice at the end of the day, but this little drama could have just been avoided full stop if they'd have just done what every club in footy does and wait until the window opens to make it official. There's going to be a cloud over the lads head now, that really didn't need to be there.
You need to look slightly deeper marra
Think squad harmony -sure the club didn’t ideally want to announce this but sometimes it makes total sense

He’ll be back on loan in the championship next year, but earning £20k instead of £2k.

Not hard to see why he’s moved, is it?

Hopefully the club can now spend some money tying Dan Neil down and persuading Rigg to stay for another season.

I am resigned to losing Bellingham, if we don’t go up. But we can’t afford to have our entire engine room decimated.
Engine room is overstating the intensity of our side

Should have just got rid in January. Shame to lose a talented young player but it doesn’t really have any impact on our strongest 11 as he’s played very little. Hopefully the money is reinvested wisely but I’ll not hold my breath.

Just seen this. Bit disappointing but noticed he was more or less straight down the tunnel after the Millwall game. He wasn't signing a new contract here so it was inevitable really.

Feel free to post examples of it happening in April please cos I can't remember much of it happening in the English leagues.
You are correct -so maybe the club have their reasons for why now at this crucial stage to announce this which at first glance is at best bad timing but ……

It’s Sunderland man. 10 million 😂 it’s absolutely coppers. Would cost that to replace him with some journeyman champ player

You can sign a second choice Championship LW to play second fiddle to Mundle (which is what Watson would be doing for the foreseeable) for about 5% of that fee.

Because he didn't want to sign a contract that's it. That's all it comes down to. It happens. Same as us signing jobe from Birmingham for a pittance. He couldn't have gone on to do anything for us as he would have left for free anyway (compensation aside which would be less)
I’m not sure it would’ve been less mind, depending on what he’d done for the rest of the season there’s a high chance we’d have gotten a pretty decent fee. This is just f***ing strange doesn’t matter how we all spin it we are going into the playoffs in a few weeks and just announced we’ve sold one of our first team players. It’s just strange as fuck like, it just throws up all sorts now. Fans reaction to it, will he even be arsed? Will he give his all etc etc all things that really didn’t need to be made public. What next we announce we’ve sold rigg and jobe before the play off final 😂 very strange from the club but some will defend owt.

We offered him a contract ages ago that he hasn’t signed. If he wanted to stay he would’ve done.

Although we will be offering significantly less than Brighton, I do find it very strange that a lad from a Sunderland supporting family, who has been with the club since the age of 6, has so quickly decided to leave.

Not sure if I’m in the river Nile or not but I’m not that bothered, £10m + add ons for a player who has potential but has had 2 good games could be cracking business. Not all youngsters with potential realise it.
