We are a player farm unfortunately. The owners are not interested in going up imho
Derby, Palace, Southampton etc and others have been taking our best players for decades now and very few of them back then had the financial advantage over us that Brighton currently have.Brighton taking our players, what a time to be alive.
Que abuse from the happy brigade.
That isn’t what’s happened. If we can't, or aren't willing, to promote, develop and play talented and promising home-grown players that are dyed-in-the-wool fans of the club for more than a handful of games then what's the f***ing point?
Richer. Not bigger. But Brighton are a bigger club than SAFC, right now. It’s a good move for the lad and to be feeding clubs like Brighton and Ipswich shows we are making good progress.
One of the reasons is we're good with young players. We develop players very wellNone of them have the potential to improve as Watson does and none of them would get a move like Watson has. Alese and Ballard dont even get a game for us never mind a prem team. There’s plenty reasons why players might stay/sign for SAFC but money isn’t one of them.
Jobe is the outlier but pretty obvious he’s going to bigger and better things.
Dear me …But Brighton are a bigger club than SAFC, right now. It’s a good move for the lad and to be feeding clubs like Brighton and Ipswich shows we are making good progress.
That's a good thing, clubs higher up the food chain wanting our players. Show we're doing something rightNeil’s been linked at moving
At the moment they are bigger in current terms.Richer. Not bigger.
Don't have to be bigger, just betterWith the exception of jobe the rest will never go on to play for a bigger club due to being either injury prone or simply not as good as some seem to think.
He’s only what 18? It’s unusual for players of that age to have loads of appearances behind them. He’s done next to nothing for us and decided to leave when we’re in the middle of a playoff battle.
Absolutely no loyalty to the club that have given him everything or his team mates.
He won’t be committed if called upon.It would be immensely daft to banish our only cover for Mundle out of spite.
This. I find it depressing personally. If we can't, or aren't willing, to promote, develop and play talented and promising home-grown players that are dyed-in-the-wool fans of the club for more than a handful of games then what's the f***ing point?
On the one hand ten million seems very good money for a player who’s played less than 20 first team games and not done all that much in them. On the other hand, he’s a young lad that has a lot of potential. Overall I just feel we sell our players a bit cheap - if someone like Bellingham, Rigg or Neil goes for less than £40 million this summer, we’re doing something wrong.
I agree with you 100% he may flop completely but I am not a hater and would like to see him do well. I am sure Brighton have made mistakes in the past and will make many more. That doesn’t mean every signing they make will be a good one.
Feels like everybody’s getting a bit swept up in a Brighton love in here.
They’ve done fantastic, but like 3/4 of premier teams, they’ll have their turn circling the plug hole when a few things don’t go right.
Issue with mine & your posts are, you’ll say Brighton are mint cos they’ve done mint, it’ll be a few years down the line whether we can assess whether this was good/bad business for SAFC & Watson & this board is fantastic at forming an alternative opinion based on hindsight.
That’s a long way of me saying Brighton aren’t perfect & can make shit signings![]()
