Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

It's very much this I reckon.

It's funny because it's really obvious to me he'll be a top player or at least playing regularly in the premier league but the reality is that we'll never see the best of him. He'll be gone long before that.

So if a £25mil + offer comes in for Rigg or Bellingham this summer then we'd be fools to turn it down. £50 mil in the championship gives you 75%+ chance of promotion imo.
Not if its just banked. Theres one thing and one thing only that consistently leads to promotion. PAY THE WAGES. Were over performing and do way better than could be epxected at the start of the season. But well be back to lower mid table unless the wage structure progresses. We cant cheat that in the long term. Better players want better wages. And its why weve struggled for so long to get a striker in .

He is not going to be risking anything in the next few weeks with a multimillion pound contract on the table if true.

I know they are premier league and likely offering a very good contract but when a Sunderland lad wants to leave his boyhood club to better his career at Brighton it demonstrates the perceived lack of ambition at this club sadly.
They can offer massive £££ now.
We ‘might’ be able to massive £££ in the summer but even then, can’t match a well established top 10 PL club.
If true, I hope TW gets used to the U21 fixtures he’s currently playing in. He’s going to be playing a lot of football in front of one man and his dog with the number of quality wide players they’ve got.

If getting £12m for Watson enables us to sign Lee Fee regardless of the division (realise wages could be a massive issue) I’m all for it.
we are not signing lee fee if we don’t get promoted
There is no way we’re signing le fee when we don’t go up
People need too be realistic that if we fail to go up this season we could lose 5 or 6 players in the summer

"If this is true I will go crackers.
Tommy's deal has been done and he will miss the last 4 games and any playoffs.
Brighton have put this in the deal.
And we have agreed to it, now not a fact but came from an agent based in Wembley.
So don't shoot me till I get it confirmed."

I doubt that's true simply because thee would be absolutely no point involving him in first team games at all.

I doubt it's true too, but would he not be included just to help out ? I expect his form will have to improve a bit at some point.
