Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

I've posted it in the hope it isn't true, which is why I'm asking for clarification from anyone who knows 100 %.
I'd love the lad to stay and be our best winger.
How would somebody at the club know if the agent has told Watson to down tools? Surely that would be between agent and player?
Well sharing speculation like that isn't likely to help this to happen is it?
It's just baseless shit stirring for the sake of it. Posts like this can turn people against players. Crazy

Needs to stay on bellend byuck with the rest of those who enjoy tittle tattle and slagging people off.

Happy clappers unite!! This ownership does not want to spend, cash is king, we now have Ross Stewart, gooch, Clarke money unspent, t

KLD is a wannabe he love the money in his back pocket, no doubt enzo is class, however he cost cook All, 7nless we get promoted, KLD true to form, eternal bottler, #mammywontletmespend.

If we dont go up this season it is solely down to kLD
“Love the money in his back pocket”
You mean the kid who’s worth a couple of billion?

Heard a few worrying things last night.
Heard he wanted the move had agreed terms etc then we pulled the deal because we weren't happy with the fee.
His agent is now subsequently pissed off and told him to pretty much down tools until the summer to try and force a move then.
Not trying to spread shit about but this has come from someone at the club. Anybody else verify it or hopefully say it's complete rubbish (which I hope it is !)
Don't shoot me please I am just passing on what I've been told, like I say I hope it's all a load of crap so happy to be told what I've heard is all bollocks.
Downing tools when he’s barely picked up a screwdriver yet

Ian Harte at it again ffs ;)

Fair enough, that was my opinion - let Regis et al get on with it
As was mine
Until someone can provide some actual facts on the situation then I’ll refrain from spectulation.

My understanding is that we don’t know if Watson actually wanted to leave or if the club were trying to make a decision based on ROI.

Either way, I hope that he now commits and continues to contribute to the club.

These things are simply part of football and - this is with my ‘had a cheeky chardy or two’ rose specs on - I can’t help but feel we’re getting better at either selling for $$$ or tying players down.

Feel free to disagree ;).
Im not here to agree or disagree but to debate. For what it’s worth I do hope he gets his head down and works himself into the picture once he’s fit. There are plus points and negatives to tho whole situation with the big negative being have we chucked away £13 million or whatever it was being offered and Watson either lets his contract run down or goes for nearer the £2 million offered last summer.

There's no way he'll go for £2 million at any point. Lots of other teams have shown am interest, not just Brighton.

Yeah thats my thinking, if he has 18 months left thats another two transfer windows, potential buyers arent going to let him run his contract down and risk being gazumped, like as soon as one bid goes in then it'll probably start an auction and if he gets fit and does well the rest of the season, or god forbid we go up and he starts the season well in the prem, then keeping him this window could look like a very good decision.......

Me neither. Just putting two and two together, could easily be getting five.

That wouldn't be my assumption and I reckon Watson's situation is different.

Reportedly, Watson is on 600 quid a week. No reason to doubt that given he signed his professional contract in September 2023 and he was only in the squad 4 times that season. That salary would be in line with what a professional footballer signing his first contract, at a club like Sunderland, and not close to the first 11, could expect.

Watson's advisers will want a hefty pay rise at this stage. In all probability, the club will not be meeting that level of pay rise at this stage, they don't have to as the player is under contract and they'll have a way of dealing with all players that will have to be conformed to in order to keep the structure and everyone knows where they stand. When Watson becomes a first team regular, that's different. Reckon it's just a case that Watson hasn't signed because him and his advisers think he's worth more, they have 18 months to prove it so no rush to sign, and the club does not have to pander to what Watson's advisers think (at this stage, under contract for 18 months).

Seems clear to me that the club looked at this way: if we can get Brighton's lad in, then it's worth taking the risk that Watson will become a 40 million pound player at Brighton because Brighton's lad could well be the difference to get us out of this league this season (and the massive increase in revenue that comes wit that) but, if we can't get Brighton's lad then it's not a risk worth taking because Watson could be the difference in getting us out of this league.

Reckon it's a simply a case that the club's decision was based on what is the best for us to get us out of this league this season, and 12 million quid in money, presumably paid in installments, with no left-winger other than Mundle wasn't the best for us.
He’s not on 600 quid a week mind

Has @BDS1991 not been back after he was telling everyone he was ITK about all the dealings including making up shite about Watson demanding to be played before Mundle?
Very telling that he's deleted his tweet.

Seriously don't understand what whoppers like this get out of posting that sort of crap. Obviously just a wannabe Keef Downie.
It worked for Fishpaste as he’s a “journalist” nowadays…..
