Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Aye he did. The club said they would sell him for £12m and told to travel

They can't sell him if he didn't want to go.

The lad we wanted from Brighton refused to come here so why couldn't Watson just do the same?...the club couldn't force him.

Anyway, he's here till the summer at least so hopefully the lad gets his head down and gives Mundle some serious competition for a starting place.

I would put mundle RW & Watson LW when both are fit

He didn’t want to go

Sunderland told Brighton £12m and the lad on loan for the season

Tommy and Martin travelled down as told by his employer

Deal not done, Tommy is delighted to stay at Sunderland

Aye, righto. Not doubting you like but anyone who believes that narrative from his camp is mad.

They'll have been pushing for the move and will now be coming back up here with tails between their legs.

Need to get him a new contract soon, like as soon as he returns from injury, put this one to bed, if Brighton cough up serious coin, let’s say 16-18 million given I reckon his stock will be higher in May, then fair enough.

If he doesn't sign a new contract could be a rough few months for the lad from the fans

Did he offer you some magic beans too
Fwiw I'm glad he's still here since we didn't get a replacement and the lad could have a big part to play come the last few games

Show me the person on here who wouldn’t make a job change for an incredibly salary increase and I may change my view . Same goes for the club , it’s understandable self interest
Dan Neil could have took the money and ran a few times but valued playing for the team he sat in the stands watching as a boy. Chris Rigg another one, Jobe has knocked back plenty interest and signed a new contract because he thinks it’s right to play games for his development. Personally would want to make my mark here before I left, ffs he could be playing premier league football here in 6 months!

As fans it is simple, he has a different scenario to deal with. Moving doesn't look like it is best for him. I know nothing about his contract but he is probably wanting a much better deal backing himself and knowing he has options. Really pleased we have kept him and making some big deal about it won't solve anything. He needs to get fit to play and be ready for when he is needed.
And sign a contract for the club who made him. A player can sign a contract to respect a club and still move club If they earn it. He has the wrong noises in his ears and needs to do the right thing. Quite why fans are playing the violin for him I don’t know. There have been people agitating a move for a long while. He is at a great place to develop already.

So it's Tommy Gun, not Tommy Gan?

All due respect he was being advised badly, he would go there and end up playing a few mins then be out on loan. He’s going to get decent time when he’s fit here, re asses in the summer. He either signs a new deal or clubs will be back in for him. Can’t see how we lose moneynwither

In fairness if you watch any ex pros talk about transfers. Once a bid is accepted and it’s a good move on more money you pack your bags unfortunately it’s the way it is. Story of Henderson not wanting to go all them years ago but it still happend.

Dan might be regretting that in a couple of years time when other lads his age are on 10x his wage. Rigg could be gone next window. Jobe is taking advice from his family. At some point they will tell him to move. I think most of us look at it purely from a fan perspective. At the end of the day there's only DN and Watson who are fans of the club. The rest have an affinity.
