Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

To their fans they are as important as SAFC is to us. We were last in an FA Cup final in 1992. And last won it 52 years ago.

Sad to say that to anyone under 30-odd in this country we are not a big club too.
Yes I get that but they have never won anything mate. Ever
I did ask you to be specific about how we're missing out and you're just waffling on about local lads and young kids. It seems to me that we're driving a belting deal and asking for a better player to come in the other direction so I don't get the missing out bit.
On loan is not a better deal. Whoosh they are gone just like amad.

Aaron Lennon is another, frightened us shitless one Boxing Day when he played for Leeds, then Spurs came calling.

Thing is, wingers like him, and Watson, rely on pace, I think what even I hadn’t considered was how they have a shorter lifespan at top level unless they can adapt.
I watched or read something where Lennon said he was on something ridiculous at a young age. Found this, not sure how true

Lennon's contract when he was 14 years old included a weekly salary of £5,000 and £10,000 for each appearance.

Meh the kid has only recently broken through into the first team, has 18 months left on his contract is injured and seems to have had his head turned.
Let him go for the right price / deal, I only want players wholly committed to Sunderland to play for us.
But he should look at what happened with Jack Clarke and have a good think on.

10m plus 20% sell on fee would be canny. If he turns out to be world class, Brighton won’t hold onto him. If he doesn’t, it’s a decent fee.

and if true, there's one reason why football is ******

Big pay increase and moving to one of the best ran clubs in Europe. It's a great move for him.
This idea of Brighton being one of the best run clubs is total twaddle.

They'd go bankrupt tomorrow if it wasn't for Tony Bloom pumping so much money in. They are very fortunate they have been successful in buying and selling players otherwise they would have gone pop a while back.
