Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Rather see us loan talent from other clubs who will push us to the Premier League than building a top end Championship team then having the problem to get shot of it all when we go up anyway.
Was Burnley’s undoing when they went up the last time, a load of players on loan then lost them all.

It's a shame to lose him, he looks a real talent.

At the same time, he's 18 and made 12 career appearances, at least half of which were late cameos from the bench. If the money enables us to go and bring someone in to fire us to promotion now it'll be worth it.

The 'destroying his career' comments are laughable. Brighton are one of the few clubs who genuinely will have a development plan and pathway for him. They seem to sell first team players every year for mega money and have a ready made replacement waiting in the wings who they'd signed a year or two prior and loaned out or developed. He'll be their succession plan for Mitoma.

Spoke to one of Watson's best mates yesterday he plays for safc under 21s btw and is in a relationship with a family member of mine.

Told me that Tommy wants the move. He also told me how much Tommy will make from it and it's a massive amount.
Does watson drive a merc suv with Tommy in its reg

Yeah, it is the way of the world now mate, heads get turned with the amounts on offer

Players wants to leave
Won't sign a new deal

What is "this club man" supposed to do in that scenario?
It's the player who should be getting stick not the club. What would those who want to keep Watson do? Be held to ransom by an injured player who has no intentions of signing a new contract. It's not as if we haven't got cover and it may well be we have somebody signing who can play either wing.

It's a bit of a short term view to take the money now mind. Surely we'd want to develop him for 2 more years and get £15m +

Does suggest he might have rejected a contract from us.

Seems that way to me too. If he had indicated he wanted to stay and develop here we wouldn't have even entertained any offers

Of course there is always risk so we reject £12m today and he has a career ending injury next game...

why is watsons refusal to sign contract getting traction?there is no evidence for this ! or is there?....daft folk are adding 2 plus 2 and getting a cabbage as the sum !Is this a leak ,from the club to spin the reason for the sale?....the best young talent in the division rigg (and watsons not far behind) is getting no stories of bids or possible sale in this window and thats because the club have obviously let it known that rigg is going nowhere .........

yet we get these stories about an injured kid with potential having 12 million bids turned down until they are of course reluctantly accepted! We need to try to hold onto our best players and watson is deffo one of those! Personally i will be disappointed if he goes but if its to fund a consolidated push on promotion well sometimes you just have to accept the realities of football and the limitations of your ownership group!

If we dont get promoted and watson is bandied around fo 30-40 million in 3 or 4 years time and funding Brightoms prem consolidation i think it will be seenas a terrible decision!

I'm pretty not committal on it hence how I've worded it. There's no evidence for any of it nevermind his supposed refusal to sign a contract as far as I'm aware.

Given the traction its all getting then if we are considering bids as said its likely to be the length of his contract coming into play - otherwise we'd likely not be considering it (if we are!)

What you have to ask yourself though is looking at how this is building and the fact we mentioned the last bids from Brighton - almost like we were encouraging more. We've simply not done that with Rigg despite interest.
