Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Not all the money necessarily goes on players. We do have a ground to maintain and wages to pay
I do agree with this but does this mean the owner puts very very little in but if we get promoted sells for a massive profit which all goes into his pocket?

I know what you are saying but this will not be how it is perceived by fans. It will appear that we let a tremendous local talent go on the cheap again. The question will be why was it allowed to get to this situation in the first place when we clearly have money in the kitty as the large bids for the likes of Cannon demonstrate?
Is he going on the cheap? What is cheap for Watson?

And did we bid for Cannon? How much? I lost track of the story towards the end

Wouldn't be surprised if he fucks off with all the the comments against him on here and Social media.
The poor lad has done, and said nowt in public to suggest that he wants to leave.

I agree with this sentiment to a certain extent, but they can also tell their agent to nip it in the bud. Saying nothing is also a choice

Which is what? His father pulled a move to Brighton? Or the club knocked back bids? His father was either happy or sad about this?
That Brighton got very close to signing him in the summer but we pulled the plug on the deal.

It’s been said in this thread that Watson stopped the deal and I’m questioning that. I’ve heard it was safc

Just to reiterate, I don't think he's pushing for a move. A bid has come in and the 2 clubs were in talks. That's enough for speculation that he'd somehow welcomed a move.

Given that the jump in wages from the u21s to first team can be thousands per week, so if his contract from 2023 is still an u21 size contract, you'd expect him to ask for the terms to be renegotiated in light of his performances and potential. This is especially true when he's seen his peers in the same age group handed lucrative contracts.

This could have a lot to do with it to be fair. Agent working the angle. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a new contract if he does stay.

Out of interest why would he be deft to move to a PL club, on vastly improved wages and every chance he could be part of their first team squad at some point soon?
Because he can do that in the summer if we don't go up. He might regret relocating to the south coast if we get promoted. He's basically guaranteed game time here.
