Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Aye sounds alright. Not really where you were going in your original post that got deleted, was it!
nothing in the original post marra that wasn't verifiable and accurate. However some lesser folk read into things what there prejudices tend to be. Unlike some touchy feely never bothered me.

How the games changed like.

Back in the day you’d enjoy an exciting youngster for 18 month or so then the vultures would start circling.
Now they can be poached before theyve made the first team.
Been to the academy n u23s can be treat like stars when in reality theyve done feck all really. Shame.
Exactly. You'd get 18 months, maybe a couple of seasons. Tom Watson has played 12 times. That's my point. You'd usually be able to hang on to your academy talent and get some return on the pitch before you made money on them. Colin Todd, Barry Venison etc.

Premier League > Home Club for me like. Nothing more really, especially with Brighton who have a good track record of breaking players through. If it was someone like Fulham or Crystal Palace (no offence to either) then I might have a different opinion and be more 50/50.

Palace have a very good record of buying young players from the Championship and developing them. Olise, Eze, Wharton. The kid they bought from Millwall also gone straight into the first team picture.

Aye but it’s mental these days.

You look at unbelievable players in the 70s, 80s and 90s who play 5-6 seasons for a smaller club and then get bought.

Just happens far quicker now.

If he wants a contract that matches Rigg then he'll need to play better over a prolonged period.

Rigg hadn't when he got it in reality.

Hasn't this season barring earlier on in it either. Been less effective for ages and you can't expect 17 or 18 year olds to be massively consistent anyway.

I guesss it depends what each wants and was on in the first place.

We’ve sold Stewart for 12million- crippled.
We’ve sold Clarke for 15million- no one wanted him.

Yet we absolutely drop our drawers at the sight of 10million- when the reality is according to most they are good deals especially the Clarke one as mundle and Watson if he stays are both better now
Whopper alert
