Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Wouldn't be fussed if he leaves as long as it's a good fee. The club aren't going to risk him running down his contract and if he has no interest in signing a new contract for what the club offers, then he'll be sold.

If he is, then loaning Jack Clarke back would be an interesting proposition to compete with Mundle till the end of the season.

You need to take a step back mate. You're slagging off a young Sunderland lad based on what ?
A) 2 bit internet journalist's looking for clicks
B) The fact that other clubs like him.
🤷‍♂️
I’ve not slagged him off so get your facts right. I think he is a good player. BUT.. if the rumours are right then let him bloody go.. he’s no Jack Clarke and won’t play for a bigger club than SAFC in his lifetime. Grab onto your security blanket and go to bed.

If Watson wants to go its pretty bad crack tbh. Considering the years put into him and he stays for about 4 games.

I never seen it.

Got a link?
It goes both ways though. There's plenty of player who the club will have sacked off for nowt after giving us years of graft.

Watson has to do what he thinks is best for him. Whether it is what's best remains to be seen, but if he thinks it's the right move then fair play to him.

It’s because of this club he is who he is. After only 12 first team appearances he’s took the piss a bit.

Couldn't care less what happens to him after he leaves here. Especially when he's clamming to go.

Meh, as long as we get a fair price it isn't his concern. We didn't develop him out the goodness of our hearts we done so because we thought it would make us money. And we'd fuck him off asap if we thought he wouldn't make us money.

It's not his responsibility to look after the club.

Well I'm not especially fussed TBF, but I don't think that was the issue.

We dont know the ins and outs of this potential Watson deal but a will say if he and his team are forcing a move or at the least giving Brighton the right nudges i'll be massively disappointed. Literally broke into the team having being nurtured from a boy and is potentially looking to leave at the first sign of being flirted with. "Tommy Watson. He's one of our own". Aye reeto.

It’s not his responsibility but for a player like that who has been with the club from very young you Woukd hope they have a bit of loyalty. Especially at 18 man, it’s quite a cynical outlook for someone so young. Think Riggs attitude speaks a lot for the lad…

Everyone on here need to get a grip, hurling childish abuse at one of our younguns on the back of a rumour. Tommy Watson has bags of talent, I’d love him to stay at SAFC, signing a new long term contract and fulfilling his potential. But if he goes then he goes, will I be disappointed yes, will I harbour bad feelings towards the kid… not at all. All that will happen is another one of our youngsters will get a pathway opened up to them.

Phil Smith from The Echo just posted on BlueSky that Brighton are still well short of SAFC’s valuation of Watson, however, they clearly want to sign him before Monday’s deadline.

Shame if he goes as he’s a talented player. But if he does, it’s not a huge impact to the squad. Lad has played about a dozen games and most of those were because Mundle was injured. Be a much more significant loss if Jobe, Neil, Rigg etc went. Hopefully we negotiate a good sell on clause as Brighton will probably sell him for £80m in about 2 years given their record.
