Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Couldn't possibly argue against this move for Watson. It's as obviously sensible as Clarke to Ipswich was stupid.
That's poor agents for you.....

How is he an idiot? He’d be getting paid well by a good, Premier League club that gives young players a chance.

He is starting his career, he will get more games here than at Brighton. In the long run, will probably earn more money, from us or another club in a year or so
Agent will make money now (and family). Great for them doubtful for the player.

Completely different.

Clarke had shown he was one of the best players in this league, if not the best, nowhere else to go but try his hand in the best division. Who could blame him, a very good servant for us, played many games and did very well.

Watson is a young lad who has played a few matches, has a bit to do before he gets ahead of himself. Supposedly a fan of the club. If he wants to go for the money, and it's all speculation and I've no idea, then the lad is a massive bell end.

Presumably there are people in the Horden/Easington area who know him and know what he's made of and can comment.

I’d rather keep him as he looks a really good young talent. But can see why we’d sell if the offer is exceptional.

Some comments in here slating the lad already, dear me. If a PL club comes in for any of our players we’re always going to be vulnerable to losing them when we’re in the Championship.

There was a young man called Tommy.
Was offered a shed load of money.
It was Brightons with offers....
To boost Speakmans coffers....
Will short term gain spoil our league run. ?

The lad on twitter who got mundle and Brownes injuries right and said Wilson was being made permanent reckons Watson is off.

Also made a cryptic tweet about Clarke

£10m for a player with 18 months left who won't sign a new contract and is probably 2nd choice in his position.

I have no information but if that is the situation we are in then it does make some sense to sell.

Hopefully the club put out that he's signed an extension tomorrow.
£10m would soften the blow quite a bit in fairness. It leaves us with very few attacking options, mind. It would absolutely need to be spent this window.

I'd imagine being in the Premier League would help get any contract negotiations moving in the right direction though.
